Eating steak and mince and bacon and pork just isn't very resource-efficient. It pollutes the shit out of the land, and there is increasing awareness that it is highly inhumane and the animals suffer a lot more than we have traditionally known about or care about.

There are billions of people coming out of poverty, and they can't adopt our meat eating habits, there's not enough farmland.

Also, we are at the point where we can grow steaks in bags in a lab, if we want.

What does all this mean for the meat industry in our lifetimes?

Anything?

No. I really don't care about farm animals. Most people don't but they say they do because of too many people pestering them about it. These people have too much time on their hands and are trying to compete based on virtue to gain clout over others. Right now the West is still on top of the world in most aspects but that is fast in decline. As soon as most people have to worry about basic stuff again, the audience for these people disappears and so does their clout.

Example: Greta Thunberg hype insanity -> Pandemic -> No more hype

Eating beef is not efficient use of farm land. I can’t remember the numbers but maybe 5 times less food to feed a animal slaughter it and eat it.

But maybe just meat restrictions. Eating meat every other day. Or just one meal of day with meat.

Animal cruelty should be limited also while the animals to be slaughtered are alive. But if it were not for people wanting to eat them they would never have been alive in the first place. So if more people were vegans there would be less animals living and more where dead things are.

oh yes it will

in a hundred years time when the world pop has doubled and the enviroment is almost totally fucked up the price f meat cannot be afforded by normal people anymore

food and water are the 2 things wars gonna fought over

even today lots of western nations have already watershortages in warm summers

result : in summer farmers are sometimes forbidden to water their land and people are forbidden to fill pools and water their gardens

this is gonna get worse

I know a lot of people in all the years I've been walking this orb and it wouldn't take my 2 hands to count the number of vegetarians/vegans I know. So no, the meat industry isn't going anywhere.

Show me where they are growing steaks in bags that would rival ANYTHING you can get off an animal and be as cost effective-------------and let's not forget about texture and taste as those things are kind of important to us carnivores.

I can see growing the muscle. But how do you get the marbling and all the real flavor

I've been in a mega dairy farm. It is fucked up. The cows live in a pen not wide enough to turn around in. The eat on one side and shit on the other. All the shit is collected. Some goes to fertilizer the rest goes to a small power plant next door.

The cows are led from their pens to i shit you not a conveyer belt that automatically hooks up the utters and milks them. Its a continuous line of cows 24 hours a day

Doesn't stop me from eating dairy but it is messed up to see
