I liked man of steel right up to the big cgi smash test at the end. It was a really good film other than that.

I thought WW was OK, superman v batman was awful, (I gave up halfway through), and I haven't watched the rest.

Has DC ever considered using the good versions of their movies the first time they're released? :think
Whoever was steering the ship there surely got the boot. Spends millions upon millions on a film then decides to leave it on the cutting room floor because Marvel films have a joke every other scene.

Isn't this like the 3rd or 4th time they've done this too?

I remember when Suicide Squad was released, DC fans were vowing that they would never pay to see another DC film in theaters and would just wait for the inevitable "director's/extended cut" to come out on DVD.

In response, DC vigorously denied that there would ever be an alternate cut of SS - only to subsequently release one on DVD. :rolleyes

The problem was DC got cold feet and got scared because a few early movies got bad reviews.....but still made a profit! Mind blown...

I also read Box office takings affect bonuses and the management only wanted to up their bonuses.

You know what the real kicker is?........early on Marvel released some turkeys. Nobody liked Dark World, Captain America was poorly received. Heck even Iron Man 3 got panned.

But those movies were the building blocks for infinity war and endgame. Both breaking a billion dollars worldwide.

My take is if they weren't losing money stick at it see where it goes. It's called world-building, they do it in books all the time ;)

The first captain America and iron man 2 are utter garbage.

DC tried to play "catch up" with Marvel instead of taking the time to gradually develop their universe the way Marvel had.

Marvel spent a decade or more gradually building up to crossover events like Civil War and Endgame. By that time, fans were very familiar with the characters and actually cared about what happened to them. DC basically did the reverse - started off with crossover films like BvS and SS before they'd properly developed the characters with solo movies. Part of the reason that BvS was so disjointed and full of plotholes/inconsistencies was because it scrambled to develop characters that should've been developed beforehand.

The fact that DC's universe has ended up with TWO separate Jokers is a testament to the lack of planning and vision that was put into it.

They keep rebooting the same shit over and over again....another Batman movie coming out soon with an all new Batman staring the guy from twilight.....I hope to God it's not the same Batman origins story, where his parents get shot. Or another joker appearance. Ffs...don't they have over 60 years worth of comic books too use for different story lines and villains.

Problem is the early DC Snyder movies were aimed at emo kids instead of adults and kids. They were so bland and boring and ultimately terrible that they needed to do something big to break from the stigma of those Snyder movies. Now they've got a few better films in the books like Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam they are in a lot better place.

Forgot about shazam. I watched that, it's pretty good and pretty funny.

Good direction for DC to go in. Stand alone films about characters we don't know about in stories that have something a little new to tell. Hopefully they do more of that and break away from how they started out in their cinematic universe.

I'm not keen on the new Wonder Woman trailer. Another set in the 80's film which negates the consequences of deeds of the first film and looks little more than a cash grab. It'll set them back if it doesn't hold up.

I've no interest in another Batman film either. It's sooo boring hearing they are doing it again. OK Affleck bored us to death, just let the corpse rest awhile then go back to it. Sure DC have other guys or gals to pick from?
