Any ADCC predictions?

66kg: I fancy Nicky Ryan vs Grippo or Miyao in the final, and my dark horse to sneak further than most people expect is Kennedy Maciel.

77kg: The final will be between two of Tonon, Lepri, and JT Torres, and my dark horse to sneak to the semis is Lachlan Giles.

88kg: Diniz, Hinger, and Chsiev are great, but I think Craig Jones wins this division.

99kg: I think Gordon Ryan wins, but he’s been beaten by Vinny before, and had a tough match with Patrick Gaudio, who are both in the division. I fancy Barbosa to fuck some people up and possibly make the final, depending on how the brackets start.

+99kg: Buchecha and Orlando Sanchez are probably the favourites, but I think Duarte could surprise a lot of people. He’s so fucking good for a youngster. Nicky Rodriguez will be interesting to watch, seeing as he’s a fucking blue belt, but I think he’ll get submitted.

Absolute: I’m hoping to see Gordon Ryan vs Buchecha at last, but the favourite’s got to be Sanchez. I think I read he’s almost 340lbs.

Superfight: Pena vs Galvao. Pena’s a natural talent and Galvao knows how to win. I think Galvao might win using some boring tactics in this one.

I fucking bought FloGrappling, sort of by accident. My plan was to sign up for a month, watch ADCC, then cancel. When I clicked subscribe it automatically took the annual payment of £150. Cunts.

After the tournament I’ll try and fuck it off.

The list of ADCC competitors, for anyone who wants to know. Keenan and Dillon have both bailed last minute, which is shit.

Fucking hell. 15 rounds is mental. 5 mins?

The most intense rolling I’ve ever done in class was 6x10 minute rounds. Roughly a minute in between.
4 minutes. No rest. Was pretty good. We had a surge of new white belts over the past year and they're all starting to get better. Some really have their shit together.

I've been playing with kimuras from everywhere. They play nicely into the sweeps I like, and I seem to always have access to that open elbow, so I've just been going for it. Kimuras and Americanas from everywhere. Also wrist locks, I'm going to be that guy.

Nice. I’ve never got a kimura on anyone, and only ever one wrist lock which was when they were tied up in a bit of a sloppy triangle.

I dunno if it happens to you, but I always got into phases through white belt where the same subs would just start presenting themselves roll after roll. I went forever without ever getting close to a kimura in a live roll. Then all of a sudden I just started finding them one after another.

Yeah, I seem to end up in mount a lot (when I say ‘a lot’, I mean that’s almost always how I finish people worse than me).

Guard pass or takedown, side control, mount, and then I look for head and arm triangle, ezekiel, mounted triangle, or armbar as a last resort. Cross-collar in a gi, but I’ve been solely no-gi for a few months now.

My BJJ is appalling when I look at how limited my options are if I only aim at what I’m ‘sufficient’ at. I wouldn’t say I’m decent at any of the above, it’s just the sequence of moves that I sometimes get to work.

Fuck. Just seen the ADCC brackets.

At that seminar, Ross Nicholls said the two toughest fights in his division are JT Torres and Lepri, and he’s drawn JT first match.

I hear you. What helped me (I think) was limiting myself when going against newer people. For example, if I get side control, I wouldn't let myself work to mount. No knee on belly
