Andrew Moloney has filed an appeal to the Nevada State Athletic Commission to overturn the no contest result in his rematch with Joshua Franco.
That's the same Commission that already looked it over and deliberated for about 30 minutes on fight night before supporting the referee's call of no contest so I'm not sure the outcome will be any different this time since how would they justify changing the decision now after watching the exact same footage in slow mo that they already watched and ruled on?
He's going to have to fight him again unfortunately, of course the decision was an absolute disgrace and no one can understand how they reached it, I saw Rob Byrd sat next to Bob Bennett as they watched it back again and again, either Byrd is just as incompetent or a yes man or Bennett simply wasn't listening or most likely imo is Bennett didn't want to reverse the decision of the referee for some personal reason.
But in the unlikely event it is overturned will Team Franco be able to say on appeal that they would have fought on if the ref didn't call accidental foul? He's the one who said he couldn't see the second time the doctor checked on the eye but if he knows the ref saw that a punch caused the injury maybe he can see until round 5 begins! If you know you can retain your title and do less than 4 rounds you might think why bother going on any further when my purse is secure either way? Just a thought what do you think?
