I've not looked at the rankings tbh.

But it's a natural fight, it's been discussed for a while, Smith was there tonight and Hearn is still saying he's rather keep them apart.

That's enough for me to think its highly unlikely to happen.
Seems Hearns does not want to pay the kind of money they are both going to demand..Frankie Gavin was probably a bigger ticket seller then Liam Smith is. Fight wont do much on PPV.

Dont think Brook is too keen for the Smith fight either...Give it a few days both Hearn and Brook are gonna be calling out Khan again. Its not just Brook that has an obsession with Khan, Hearn does as well.

The problem is Smith brings nothing to the table. He doesn’t sell a ticket & barely anyone knows who he is. He was a ‘world champion’ but the opponent was horrendous as was his first two defences. Brook gets stick for Dan & Bizier but they were world beaters at the side of Jimmy Kelly & co.

Unless Hearn is 100% certain there’s no chance of Brook - Khan happening then he isn’t going to want to put Brook in anything risky as that’s a big pay day & PPV headliner for him.

With Smith he can just use him as the away fighter on DAZN cards to fill them.

It doesn’t make any financial sense to put Brook - Smith on, it wouldn’t even be as big of a fight as Brook - Matthew Hatton was.

For tight or wrong Khan v Brook is probably a top 3 fight that can be made involving two brits

Brook vs Smith is far more competitive.

Who knows if Hearn can sell Okolie vs Chamberlain then Brook vs Smith might do well at the box office.

Amir Khan vs Conor Benn would be the fight to make in my opinion. I think the risk reward ratio would be in Benns favour. If he wins it sky rockets his career and celebrity. If he loses it can be put down to lack of experience. Given how shot Khan is I think Benn beats him.

I wouldn't mind seeing that actually, promises an exciting finish either way I'd think.

I see this fight as a part of a Smith vs. Saunders PPV card from Anfield, if it does get made.
Brook is pals with Saunders.

Doubt Hearn could pay both men on a Fight Night card from Sheffield...

Cant see Callum Smith vs Saunders doing huge numbers either. Joe Gallagher mentioned some months ago that he does not think a fight with Saunders would sell out Anfield.

In anycase Brook stated a few days ago he will only fight Liam Smith if he is payed a 7 figure sum. So that fight wont happen unless its a main event PPV in its own right.

Mind you Sky sports..seem to be interested the lead article on their website is about a potential fight between Brook and Smith.

First time in 10 years where the article following a Brook victory has not been about Amir Khan.

Any idea what ££££££ Terri Harper got for last night's WBC title win?

Liam Smith all day long.

Brook would have to show things he hasn't shown since Spence on Saturday night to make me think it's even a hard question.
Agree.

a come forward fighter who has the ability to soak up pressure is the nightmare opponent for Brook at this stage of his career.

zeferra was landing straight right hands all night & DaLuca landed plenty. Smith isn’t a world beater by any means but he’s tough, a good body puncher & he’s comfortable trading leather on the inside.

I think it’s a really good fight, the styles will mesh well.

just a shame we won’t see it

Brook is now talking about fighting Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia...By the looks of it he is not keen on fighting Smith or any top ten guy at 154lb.

All the rest is just talk...As Hearn said in postfight interviews. The new strategy is to pretend they dont want Khan. In the hope he suddenly gets worried about losing out on a Brook fight and comes running.

Good luck with that strategy.
