Kodi - IPTV - VPNs

Jun 5, 2013

A few years ago I used XBMC on my XBox. It allowed me to watch TV shows and films on my TV for free. No downloading, just streaming all the way. Since then, it's fallen off my radar and I get scammed monthly by Fox, Netflix, etc.

I recently bought a small android TV box that sits next to the TV, is connected to my wifi and allows me to watch just about every film and TV show that's ever been made. Also, if your internet speeds are OK (Oz is a fucking joke), you can watch live TV from just about anywhere in the world - sports, films, general, blah, blah.

Anyone else have one of these boxes? After amassing TBs of films and shit, I rarely download anything these days. It's like Pandora's Box. Anyone else have one??

If you haven't, I'd suggest you get one. They're as cheap as chips - I think I paid $40 for mine. If you're Scottish, you can just install it on your PC/laptop and connect to your TV via HDMI. Also, I cast from my android phone (Kodi is in the Play Store) to a Chromecast in my bedroom.

Here's a tutorial (for those with a PC) that I just nicked from a forum I use....

If you have a old windows computer you can install the Kodi software on it and watch any movie, documentary, sports for free .
Watch the you tube clips and they will show you step by step how to program it . All you are doing is typing in words . You must install a fresh version of Kodi first - https://kodi.tv/download/

Once installed, go to the link below on how to setup Kodi (I think this method is useful to set up your standalone box too) -
Once the above is installed, look at the link below on how to install cCloud tv. Supposedly a very good add on.

Here's a link that shows how to add sports channels.

This fellow on YouTube, Husham Memar, is like a whizz-kid with Kodi and is constantly uploading good tips and advice . When you play a YouTube clip of his, click on his name and it with bring you to the location where he has the rest of his videos . Worth subscribing too, allegedly.

Here is a list of the standalone TV boxes that come with Kodi pre-installed. Find reviews before ordering as some can be shit, or so I hear.

The two best add ons I use are :

I can't believe I ever stopped using it. Paying through the nose for Fox each month is a thing of the past, especially now that live TV is available on Kodi.....not that I watch much anyway.

The boxes, or Raspberry Pi and Firestick, are definitely the way to go.

Something has happened in the last few weeks.
I can't install ES File past 22% on my Firestick so can't get Kodi.
I'm very limited when it comes to computer/installing skills so any help would be greatly appreciated.:good

Exodus is great but I've never tried Phoenix. I'll try the add on later/

Give the UKTV and USTV ones I mentioned a go, if you have decent internet. Everything is on UKTVagain, from Boxnation to Sky Movies.

I used to live by it a few years ago but I just couldnt' be bothered tinkering with it any more. Especially for sub par streams. Like you say, Oz internet is a joke.

I am considering getting it going again just for English Football and Box Nation

I recently switched to using Kodi as I was getting tired of paying over $200 on cable and internet and I barely watch any TV. I got the Nvidia Shield and everything has been wonderful. Wish I did it sooner.

I've had it for months, but I rarely use it because I can't be arsed to wait for all the updates, I never know how to find anything quickly, and I'm never sure it'll definitely have whatever I'm looking for. Basically, I haven't given it a real chance and I just wish I could justify paying for every Sky channel instead.
