They'll fucking kill each other. Two dangerous guys that literally hate one another. Man, this'll be something else.

Beterbiev beat Kovalev twice as an amateur according to Artur, although I can only find evidence of one fight -- a 25:24 decision in the semi finals of the 2007 Russian Nationals. Should be a great -- and possibly brief -- fight.

Speaking of Beterbiev's amateur credentials, how about this for a stat: in the space of four days at the 2006 Amateur World Cup, Beterbiev stopped Ismail Syllakh, Thabiso Mchunu and Yunier Dorticos!

Hope this happens! Kovalev looked good against Alvarez and Beterbiev needs a big fight asap, this is legit 50/50 Kovalev isnt as done as we thought and Beterbiev just got knocked down in his last fight hes definitely not as invincible as I thought lol

Someone with the style of Usyk would gave a field day against Beterbiev IMO - he just looks so stiff and always seems to be looking for that 1 punch (which often takes him ages because he needs to get set properly).

They actually fought three times as an amateur. Beterbiev won one, but all of them were close on points. And in the two he lost, Beterbiev either dropped Usyk or produced a standing eight-count with body shots.

And yes, I keep banging on about his amateur credentials, although that's only because there isn't much to go on from his pro career! And he's probably regressed snce those fights mentioned above.

Great, they're both ESPN now. I hope this fight happens. Good for Beterbiev for getting out of his contract. This has been going on since his fight against Campillo, IIRC, no? I think I remember a fight falling through because he was having issues with his management. Was it the Chilemba fight (the one that didn't happen) that we heard that he was suing his promoter? I could be completely wrong, though, and I can't be asked to look it up.
