In fairness it was only a few fans who gave him abuse, im pretty sure he’s adored there... That certainly was the case when I was there in 2014.

I understand wanting to see him play over here but I think people are always a little blasé when discussing him leaving Barca, I think he’s made it pretty clear he is Barcelona through and through. It’s hard to imagine him elsewhere.
He also has a young family to think about.

Chad Ronaldo will always show up to the big games!
Impressive from Ronaldo, but surely they should include all the knockout stages (even though, he'd no doubt still be ahead).

Also, anyone who thinks Ronaldo "turned up" for the 2014, 2016 and 2018 CL final(s), obviously didn't watch those games. He stank.

Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good myth mate, every trophy Ronaldo has ever won he single handed carried the team to glory.

He is responsible for getting Madrid to the CL final more than any other player, he is far and away their best goalscorer and they probably would have been knocked out much earlier without his goals. Plus he absolutely turned up for the 08 and 17 finals. The guy is a total legend.

Fine player, ace goalscorer......but imagine if most of his team mates hadn't turned up for those finals, he'd have as many runners-up medals as Buffon.

Exactly. He is absolutely one of the main reasons they got to so many, but he also had team mates turn up in big games where he was poor. Ronaldo scored two goals (one a wonder strike) in the first leg of their quarter against Juve, and then he got to take the penalty in the 8th minute of injury time to send them through when it was 0-3 in the second leg. He was the reason they got through the quarters...but over two legs in the semis he was rubbish. Bayern outplayed them and should have gone through but for woeful finishing and the fact that their keeper was injured, so the reserve one came in and a fucking nightmare in the second leg. Ronaldo then did fuck all in the final too. So didn't turn up in the semis or the final, but Real winning it is down to him because he was excellent in the first leg of the quarters.

This is why it's a team game, you need more than one player to show up. Barca would be in the final if their defence had shown up or if any of Coutinho, Suarez or Alba had taken the one on one chances they had when put through by Messi...and sure, if Messi himself had scored they'd be through. But Juve are out...Ronaldo got a goal in each leg, it's not his fault they are out, but he scored the same number over two legs as Messi did for Barca, why didn't he score another so they would be in the semis? That's the sort of ridiculous "logic" that people only seem to apply to Messi.

Messi leaving Barcelona and being successful at another club would prove nothing. He does not need to it, anyone that thinks there is even the slightest possibility he wouldnt be a success at any reasonably successful club in Europe have not been paying attention this last decade. Functioning eyes is all that is required.

Messi effectively wrapped the fucking tie up in the first leg...the second miss is an absolutely shocker. You cannot legislate for that.

Not really...no team should need a 4/5 goal lead going into a second leg- a 3-0 lead 1st leg lead is massive. Anyway 4-0 would have meant extra time and Liverpool looked far more likely scorers if another goal was needed. It was the terrible 2nd leg performance that cost them and the ability to score an away goal in such a crucial game- yet again.

Well yeah, you’re right.... But his point that the tie was probably wrapped up had Dembele not being a useless cunt was right.

Maybe. But most people thought it was wrapped up at 3-0 didn't they? At 4-0...bigger task, but assuming the second leg plays out as it did, it was heading to extra time, only if we had pulled level at 4-0, who's to say we wouldn't have ramped up the pressure and got a 5th? Shaqiri had a chance for a 5th as it was, and Barca looked gone once the 3rd went in.

Aye but of course if the 4th goal went in presumably the dynamics of the second game would change?

Barcelona were not much better in the first leg. Save for Messi's fortunate tap in and his ridiculous free kick, they would have likely gone into the second leg as slight underdogs. It is not a very good team, plain and simple.
Suarez is noticeably slower nowadays too

Pretty much.

They were getting schooled by Liverpool in the Nou camp for 60 mins. Liverpool's end product and final decision making was just terribly off.

Then the dynamic of the game changed, Liverpool got a bit over zealous and left themselves open.

9 times out of 10 Liverpool are coming away from that game with a score draw at WORST.
