Lomachenko p4p #1

Looking at a lot of post fight interviews with the media, boxing trainers etc. there now seems to be a consensus that Lomachenko is the best fighter in boxing. Some are saying he is pound for pound number one, and the others seem to be saying "He is the best, but he hasn't fought enough big opponents yet" (essentially that he is the p4p #1 in waiting).
Where is he on your pound for pound list?

@Pedderrs he has only had 8 fights? Remember I said pound for pound within 10 fights? He might not quite get there by that time for everyone, but he couldn't help that Rigo ducked him and that he had to chase Walters up a weight division and into a corner to get that fight. Get Salido out of the way then dominate Pacman in his next two fights, it will be hard not to call him p4p after 10 fights.

No fucking chance is he.

He's obviously talented enough to be mentioned up there with the best fighters in the world but he still has a lot of work to do resume wise to even be in the discussion for P4P No. 1.

BONG ZQUAD!!!!
Walters
Russell
Martinez

Think that's a pretty clear order for his top 3 wins, has nothing at all beyond that, and Walters isn't that good really as a best win, I think he'd need to beat Siri, Vargas and Flanagan before i'd put him in the convo with Chocolatito and by the time that has all happened Choco could well have four or five more wins himself, he's definitely in my pound for pound rankings now though

Roy Jones, Robert Garcia etc.
I've just saw the videos. Both guys reacting shortly after the fight and Jones said Ward, Kovalev and Lomachenko all deserved to be top (1A, 1B & 1C as he put it) but that Lomachenko hadn't the opposition yet to prove he deserved that place.

I think given a bit more time and perspective nobody would say he is P4P #1.

In reality it is the ATG in my avatar who occupies the throne.

He's the best fighter in the sport, that means p4p number one. Many now hold that opinion. Ward and your guy are the only others in the discussion, and I don't think anyone can honestly say that they think those guys are more talented than Lomachenko.

It's ultimately a fucking senseless song and dance that'll just lead to the inevitable without anything actually having changed about him as a fighter or his abilities.

I get the perspective, but he would've been ran through all these clowns that are being brought up if he had the opportunity. It's like pulling fucking teeth to get a single date set these days in the sport, nevermind a credible opponent in there with him.

Listen. I'm not the American public. I'm not going to be swayed by "Many now hold the opinion..." #smartpeople

I deal with the facts. When Lomachenko has a resume to back up your opinions we can discuss those claims.

Arum is talking about having Loma fight more than two times a year, I hope that isn't just talk. It's a bit depressing that we don't get to see the boxing genius more often. The problem with the Walters fight was that Loma was just warming up before Walters said No Mas. We only got a handful of prime Loma rounds to enjoy from all that waiting.

There are active fighters with better resumes than the guy in your avatar who have had recent losses. Pound for pound is always subjective, it has nothing to do with facts. Lomachenko is the best fighter in the sport on the eye test, on the way he dominates high level opponents. He is the most dominant, he is a two weight world champion and in eight fights he has taken the zero from two fighters who were/are considered elite, with ease.
Roman is good and Ward is good, but Lomachenko is the more complete fighter and is more dominant. People are coming around to just how good he is, and it's just a matter of time until he's thought of as the number one pound for pound guy by everybody.

Talent doesnt mean nothing until he proves it against another p4p fighter, same situation as Golovkin, i dont know if you are trolling or disabled but you look like an idiot either way

Outside Pacquiao?

I think you're invalidating your own argument about subjectivity here by referring to the eye test.

You could literally make any point you like and refer to the "eye test" to state who you thought the best fighter was without having to back it up.

He is the most dominant, he is a two weight world champion and in eight fights he has taken the zero from two fighters who were/are considered elite, with ease.
How on earth does that make him more dominant?

Gonzalez:
46-0
4 weight champion (1 lineal)
Has just taken the 0 of Cuadras (not that I think this should even be a point)

Ward:
31-0
2 weight champion (1 lineal)
Has just taken Kovalev's 0 (again a stupid point)

Roman is good and Ward is good, but Lomachenko is the more complete fighter and is more dominant. People are coming around to just how good he is, and it's just a matter of time until he's thought of as the number one pound for pound guy by everybody.
I respect your opinion but I disagree. I'd say Ward and Gonzalez are more complete, more proven, more dominant and with better resumes to to back that up and I would be very surprised if the majority didn't agree with that assessment.

I believe Lomachenko has the ability to be pound for pound number one. Absolutely. He's a brilliant fighter. But he has to earn his spot, like Gonzalez has and like Ward has.
