Castle Duckula.
I can't take to him as a person. Loved his early shows, but can't be bothered with the later stuff so couldn't say if it is good or not. I'd love to re watch his Jimmy Saville episode where he hinted at what Saville was but gave us nothing which in turn in hindsight is why I don't watch any of his new stuff.

Worth watching the follow up show that he did a couple of years back too. Lots more stories and additional footage.

Plus a great and slightly disturbing story featuring a glasses saleswomen, empty boxes of cereal and some dropped trousers.

Big fan...i think his style makes people so comfortable that they'll usually reveal they're bigger cunts than we imagined. My favourite moment is still the survivalist* Amercian bloke who loved "Are You Being Served", except for John Inman...and got irate just at the mention of his name- and Louis stoked the flames by saying "I'm free".

* Unsure which episode, think he was a 'survivalist' type....one of those conspiracy boneheads anyway.

He didn't know. He felt there was something missing/not right but didn't know what it was. He had heard all the rumours that kids even remember from the 80's but it was stuff that most people dismissed in the way all those mental rumours like Richard Gere and the gerbil were dismissed once you grew up.

The follow up is pretty hard to watch at times, but very good.

My brother was the assistant producer on two episodes of his 3 part series Dark States, well worth a watch in my opinion (potential bias aside). He covers heroin addiction caused by prescription pills in one episode, gun crime in Milwaukee in another and sex workers in the third.

Very down to earth and easy to work with apparently.

I think the US series he did you mention is the last one I fully watched.

Not sure why, but my opinion got stuck on the Saville episode when all that blew up years later. In my mind I was sure Theroux knew so ditched off watching much else of his. It is why I want to see it again.

His style was always great, remember an episode he did with gun nut far right types in the US with a couple of girl singers taking up a portion of the show. Really uneasy footage, that got worse when they hitched on to him maybe being Jewish.

One of my favourites is when he visits Boer separatists in South Africa. Mainly the interviews with Eugene Terre'Blanche. Only time I've seen Theroux genuinely rattled.

He's an awesome filmmaker. I think I have watched every single one of his episodes. Law and Disorder in... were good, and the ones about meth, black nationalists and the Boers were incredible too.

Also San Quintin.

I like him. I know it's his trade but how he doesn't at least raise his eyebrows or some minor reaction when some these people keep chatting shit is impressive to me.
