As someone who lives outside the UK and has to stream literally everything boxing related, this is something that excites me. I would pay a monthly fee for access to a HD stream.

Then I looked on the DAZN website and it says "Currently only available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Canada and Japan." What a random assortment of countries.

Ths could only be one part of the overall announcement.

So he could be announcing this for all his non televised shows but also announce an 8 or 10 fight deal with HBO, so everything not on HBO would be streamed, like a lot of his Sky shows.

Looks like they get big budget but it absolutely pointless without signing big names from states. Hearn should be looking out for his current fighters
You’d think he’s signed a couple behind the scenes and will have them at the presser but maybe not. Maybe it’s just Eddie and someone in a t-shirt with a job title like Chief Content Officer from Da Zone

On the face of it it is underwhelming. But I'll be interested to see how both Matchroom and this company, both having next to no presence in the US currently, are able to convince fans to sign up to this. They'll certainly need to overspend in the beginning on some really notable signings and be willing to work with other promoters, but losing money is not the Hearn way so if this doesn't take off can see it being incredibly short lived. If it does then who knows, the UK stuff might also end up moving over once the Sky deal runs out.

This could be huge and it could just be a bit of a damp squib. Len Blavatnik is behind this and he is one of the most serious individuals in world business. Must confess I’d never heard of DAZN but they apparently plan to be the “Netflix of Sports”.

There is currently a huge race to control content hence the bidding war for Sky between Disney, Comcast etc. If this is a well funded, multi year deal then it could be massive for Hearn as it will allow him to sign up a stable of boxers in the States and make the British non-PPV shows better funded and hopefully improve the cards as he will have to show his new broadcaster that he will be able to deliver exciting content that will generate subscribers for them.

I must have got out of the right side of the bed because I’m viewing a well-funded new entrant to the market as a positive as they will have to go big on boxing to compete with the likes of HBO. It needs to be very well funded though, if not, this will simply be Eddie’s version of Mick’s YouTube announcement.

It looks like from reports big budget and multi year deal, but without fighters its a waste of time, they said no fighters annouced Thursday but he also said it was big deal lol. A big deal to me would have been netflix or aMAzon who have an audience already.

I went to a nightclub called Da Zone once many years ago, it was a shithole and someone got stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle. I never went there again.

I thought I’d share it as that random piece of news is far more interesting than Eddies HUGE announcement. Talk about a wet fart...

The reports saying 7 figure licence fee Hearn said its biggest budget before but he says a lot!

We’ll have to wait and see the details. Could be huge, could be bullshit. Just made the mistake of looking on Twitter. Apparently it’s somewhere between Blavatnik investing billions and this really being a massive deal that will change the face of boxing forever and the broadcasting reach of a car’s reversing camera.

Blavatnik’s history leads me to hope that it will be a genuinely well funded deal.

Seems odd that after months of harping on about how US fighters are terribly promoted and nobody knows who they are, the master plan is to take Thurman/Charlo and stick them on an obscure subscription platform.

But, wait and see I guess.
