First Conlan will be having a keep-busy in June, then it's '90% there now' for his proposed fight against Nikitin.

“We're 90 per cent there now. It looks like that's the one for the summer and August 3rd will be the date.

“It's definitely the one I want and I know Nikitin wants it, big time, and Top Rank want it so it's all about getting it over the line. I'm sure he wants good money for it, he'll be wanting a good purse for it because it could be his last cash-out fight.

“I know they (Nikitin's team) are confident, they believe they won the first fight, the Olympics fight, and they'll be confident which is all the better for me. It's the one I want, it'll be a dream come true when it gets done and I'll be walking into the Falls Park for the first big, big fight of my career in Belfast. It'll be a special one and it's the fight I'm gunning for."

I wouldn't bet against Nikitin if this does get done (sorry Michael). I was expecting more from Conlan when he turned pro, he did say he aims to be a 3 weight world champion if I remember rightly, and he doesn't punch hard enough to move up through the weights imo. I may be wrong and he could pick up a title but I very much doubt he will become the No.1 FW as the division is too strong.

Conlan's 2 and a half years older than Gill but I see Gill having a higher ceiling.

There’s no place for it in boxing. Never been a divided sport and shame on him for breaking that trend.
I don't think Conlan's trying to incite hatred here, I think you're reading way too much into mate. A lot of us were raised on that kind of music and enjoy simply for that reason. Rebel songs are a part of Irish culture at this stage.

Sure Conlan's obviously not as PC as McGuigan or Frampton were, but it doesn't mean he's a protestant hating scumbag.

In saying that it may be something he might have to reign in in the future, if he doesn't want to alienate the other side of the community or audiences in mainland Britain. He needs to have a think about it.

Agree with most of that to be fair and hope you’re right. I love going to all the fights over here but wouldn’t go near a Conlon fight now. Listen to that shit in the pub or wherever, hate seeing it at the boxing.

I just don't see the point of this fight. It's happening way too early for it to have any significant progressive impact on either mans career and if Conlan were to lose, well that would be a whole lot of his marketability down the drain wouldn't it?

I don't think Nikitn has been setting the world alight since he turned pro though, so id have to favour Conlan, but this fight does nothing for me.

Your the clown if you think its ok to come out to music in support of a proscribed terrorist group. Hes a no mark anyhow, and im looking forward to see him getting chinned.
People should be allowed to support who they want without snowflakes crying about it,

UDA, EDL, IRA, Hezbollah whatever couldn't give a fuck.

I agree that he should be allowed to come out to whatever he wants, but I do get the impression that Conlan is a bitter little twat tbh.

Well the UDA had been murdering people with state sponsorship for 20 years while they were a fully legal organisation so being proscribed doesn't really mean much

Really Conlan should have thought more about it, I certainly wouldn't come out to that song or any other similar one, although that's also because it's a Celtic tribute song and that old firm shit bores the nuts off me.

I wouldn't make a political statement with an entrance song but there is also the usua hypocrisyl, our governments are helping murderers and tyrants the world over with weapons, money and logistics with which they are killing more people in a matter of months than died here in 30 years of the troubles, if we really wanted to go into it there are many, many offensive songs that people use if you look at the lyrics

Couldn't care less about Conlan tbh, turned pro with very high expectations and has yet to impress so far. Fought a load of nobodies as well.
