Are there certain death's of musicians, singers, etc that really had an effect on you?

Prince hit me pretty hard. Dude was not old at all. Pretty amazing musician. Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest really bothered me a lot as well. ATCQ's music has been constantly playing since I first heard them back in 1990. Their music has impacted me so much. My musical tastes were heavily influenced by ATCQ.

What about you?

Dave Brockie, aka Oderus Urungus, lead singer of GWAR. Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave, too. It's eerie how many of their songs highlight their depression, and seem to give the sense that they knew how it would end for them.

Stuart Adamson from Big Country was a shocker.

Still listen to their stuff weekly and just seemed such a waste.

Freddie Mercury going was a major though. Was in Germany at the time scooping at some nudist swimming pit thing and it came over BFBS radio and was stunned.
Had every album in earlier years and probably the greatest showman ever.

Amy Winehouse was pretty sad too. Her music was fantastic and it was awful to see such a young woman fall to such a low and untimely death.

Yes, I grew up with Bowie and his was the only name that came to mind but it would be overstating the case to say it "really affected me".

It came as something of a shock, as it did for most as he'd kept his illness quiet, but I'd probably been more affected by it when he was still producing stuff I was listening to and he hadn't done that for about 20 years before he died.

I'm not super bothered by celebrity deaths, usually... but Dimebag Darrell and Prince both made my brain do weird stuff that affected my day.

Chris Cornell also had me all sad and shit. My band got together that night and had a toast in his honor. He was a big influence on our singer in particular.

None.

Will be gutted when Stephen King goes, though, to be fair.

Amy Winehouse. Huge talent and died of alcohol od basically because she was trying to quit.

I paid a lot of attention to Dilla after he died and realize how much he could have created if he didn’t get cut short.

Two of the original Pretenders. James Honeyman-Scott insisted that Pete Farndon be fired from the band due to Farndon's excessive drug use. Honeyman-Scott died of an OD the following day. Farndon died of an OD less than a year after.

I'm never really too effected by any celebrity death to be honest but out off all the musicians deaths the ones that stand out were Bowie and Cobain.
