Just bought Ark : Survival Evolved a couple of days ago, since it was 70% off. What a tremendous game this is. Plenty of longevity, so far as I can tell. Set up my own server, so nobody turns up and breaks everything and steals all my shit while I'm away. Not that I have much of fuck all at this point - I don't even have leather armour yet, and I'm all excited because I just built a bow and some stone-tipped arrows. :yep

Went on a hike, found some valuable metal which I'm not even smart enough to craft anything with yet, and died 4 times hauling it back to the chests in my little thatch shack. Luckily your corpse sticks around for a few hours with all your stuff that you have on you and it's easy to find. So you go back and pick your stuff up, and maybe a large predator dinosaur just spots you and kills you, and there is literally nothing you can do to escape or defend yourself. It's good.

Started Hellblade - Senuas sacrifice on my new pc (received yesterday!!)

The game has phenomenal art design very high level graphics. The depiction of mental health is so intense! Must be played with headphones all the voices in her head are in my head it has a very miserable head tripping immersion. but i can't wait to finish it. Poor Senua having to go through all this

Anyone know if this is any good on console?

I should be completing RDR2 soon.
Don't know about console, but I'm right into the PC version, and I still suck at it.

I would say as a general rule, if you like games where:

* The world is full of dinosaurs, most of which are essentially invincible for the first 50 hours or so

* You craft everything that you build or use

* You sneak into a new area, throw down a couple of foundations and a bed to use as a spawn point, and start frantically chopping down nearby trees to build wooden walls and make a small cabin to protect your bed and yourself before a large aggressive predator spots you and kills you

* You can tame and then level up all the dinosaurs, and craft a saddle and ride the medium - to - large ones. Flying a Pternadon is sweet. But they can't carry much weight and they run out of stamina quickly and have to land and rest for a few seconds. (well, my one is still pretty low level)

* The main map is one big island with no load screens, but it has several different biomes with different animals and resources. Redwood forest, artic biome, a big swamp, a volcano, etc etc. I haven't left the beaches yet. I get killed if I venture into the interior.

* Yeah, it's a game that is swift to punish you when you start thinking you're a badass. I can't even venture into the interior yet, because it gets very hot in the jungle, my temperature regulation is still mediocre so I overheat or freeze too quickly to adventure into the more challenging areas, and I'm not tough enough to survive many encounters. Oh, and I can still only craft the basic waterskin, which doesn't hold much water. And also slowly leaks.

I don't usually go for survival based games, but this one has really clicked with me. Like I just spent an hour playing it, and all I did was harvest rock and flint. And I was having a good time. I wanted to load up my faithful triceratops with hundreds of pounds of rocks and flint, so I could take them back to my mortar and pestle and use them to make sparkpowder. Which I can then combine with charcoal to make gunpowder from. :yep But before I did that, I killed a couple of smallish herbivores, took meat and hide from them, cooked some of their meat for me and left the rest to spoil so that I could combine it with the narcoberries I had collected and turn my regular arrows into tranquilliser arrows. Now I have a good stash of tranq arrows and some spare armour, tools and weapons in the large container box next to my bed, so I'm not so scared to venture out on a rare-resource-collection adventure that will most likely get me killed.

So yeah, if that sounds like the kind of game that you like to kill a couple of hours on just fucking around and doing whatever you want with no story and no cutscenes - highly recommended. :thumbsup

I just saw this, what the hell is happening to Bioware, this company has made some of my favourite titles of all time?
I think the hate for the game is overstated. I've put in 30 plus hours, I'm having a perfectly fine time with it. No, it's not mass effect, but it's not complete shit. People go into shit with absolutely moronic expectations. This is a loot game, and people are complaining about repetitive missions? In a loot game? You mean like border lands? Like destiny? Like diablo? Cause I've been repeating clsamey content on ALL THOSE GAMES FOR Years. Cause that's what loot games do. Unless you've been asleep at the wheel since the advent of the looter genre then repetitive content is EXACTLY what you should expect from a loot game.

Another thing that's cracked me up is how generic many of the complaints are. The story is bad. OK, why? Elaborate. Tell my what loot game has a better story.

The biggest complaints should be shit like the games complete lack of information on so many fronts. No character sheet. Not driving home to players the importance of combos. Terms that aren't clearly defined, like that on component pieces it states health, but the game doesn't have health, health is actually armor and your shields are being call armor instead.

That's the kind of shit people should be complaining about.

Yeah, you see this a lot now... I saw Red Dead 2 was getting hate from some quarters... that game is a complete work of art. The world which they have created is phenomenal and beyond anything you could have imagined a video game to be 15 years ago and it plays like a dream too.

Have you seen this Angry Joe review, the comments on the loot available is pretty damning.

DICE went from possibly pulling a decent ways ahead of c0d after BF1, to the massive flop that is BFv

I wonder what the fuck Bioware were doing during Anthem's six years of development
garbage story
grindfest
lifeless world
potentially ruining consoles
ME:A which was made by the bioware B team (which no longer exists due to poor sales), sold better & was received better

Bethesda hung themselves with fo76

press F to pay respects to former great devs

everything is going to be 4K 60fps which is needed now badly
I'd be surprised if they manage a consistent 4k 60fps and keep the prices of their consoles reasonable. It'd mean the equivalent of something like a 2080 or Vega, and the price would sky-rocket. I honestly think they'd be better off aiming 1080p or even 1440p and 60-120fps... but the consumer electronics market being what it is, it wouldn't surprise me to see 4k and 30fps.
