Bit late but I finally gotten round to buying MGSV. Fun game so far, most of the side missions are bit rinse and repeat but good nonetheless.
Coincidentally I was just thinking earlier that I haven't played something I could get my teeth into for a while and I still haven't given this a decent shot yet. I've seen it praised a lot in this thread.

It’s a fantastic game. Unfortunately due to the Konami/Kojima fallout it isn’t finished and feels rushed.

Such a shame though because what is there is as good as it gets.

I didn't even realise they had a fall out, he's working on that Death Stranding game, right?

I only ever played the demo of MGS5 and at the time didn't have the patience but as I'm not playing much current gen consoles at the minute (just casual retro gaming) I might just stick this on and persevere because I know damn well that I'll enjoy the game.

Yeah that’s being made by his own studio, Konami basically tried to remove him from all of the advertising and publication and Kojima himself doesn’t talk about MGS at all anymore.

It was a really messy fallout and put a massive dampener over the release of MGS5.

Talk about shooting themselves in the foot, like what else does Konami make these days on the video-games front other than MGS ... Pro Evo is about it?

Kojima is MGS.

The rest is all arcade classic remakes and some shitty looking Contra cash in...

They made a MGS cash in after Kojima left- was a massive pile of shit and was related to the series in name alone.

Also, SonicFox holy fucking shit. Looked like Dragon had him completely downloaded after 4 games of complete and utter domination. Then SonicFox adapts and wrecks him.

More mids, fewer grabs/highs as Dragon just ducks them

Perfected his jump range/angle to get over the wall

Finishing combos in knockdowns instead of leaving Dragon standing as Dragon doesn't ever wake up, but will definitely backdash and challenge pressure if left standing

Konami have made it clear they are alienating gamers and their business is moving forward in mobile apps and developing games for casinos.

It's a hard pill to swallow for gamers but when games like metal gear solid v are costing upwards of 100m to develop and sell, companies need to ask whether they're really in or not. That kind of money involves a lot of risk for probably meagre reward.

I was hyped for silent hills and still have the demo.

MGS V was fucking brilliant, INCLUDING most the story. Big Boss > Solid Snake.
I've been playing it the past week or so, getting in from the gym about 10:30 pm and then just sitting playing MGSV till about 12:30 pm-01:00 am, constantly taking over bases and posts and extracting everything.

I have a weakness for games where you constantly upgrade your character and base... this is why I've avoided one of these time-sink games for a while. I'll usually try and do every possible side mission before completing the next main story mission.

Video-games are in a tricky spot, the budgets are so high and the expectations from the customer are higher, games like RDR2 set the bar for what a video-game world can be and if they have a flop, it must be disastrous ... the pressure on the developers by the people fronting the cash must be immense.

Maybe new tools will be developed which help reduce the resources required therefore cost of creating these worlds but you can see how this industry is precarious. I can't even imagine the cash that's been spent already on something like Cyberpunk 2077, if they don't achieve the sales targets they expect then that's crippling.

When you think how many games are released without hype that just do really average sales.

What story mission you on? You really want to expand Mother Base and try no to extract everyone you see, atleast for a while.

About 5% complete.

I've just completed that mission where you go to a temple and the zombie faced guy shows up with a Metal Gear, you use the Honey Bee weapon to take ut those mist zombie fuckers.

After that I went and did a couple side missions, I've expanded Mother Base with I think 3nr other platforms.

But yeah, I'm starting to realise that I've extracted a whole bunch of fuckin EEEEE jakies and started dismissing loads of them.

Yeah, try to go for atleast a C rank at the start. The enemies are levels capped so the guys you ummm ''recruit'' improves the more game you complete. There is a mission later than will make you regret Fultoning everyone in sight.

Couple of tips, the side missions are really repetitive. You can pretty much head shot tranc your way through them. I like to mix it up so try doing them using only CQC, or a water pistol and a magazine, just to up the challenge.

The enemies get smart pretty quick. So if you start snipering everyone they will wear helmets. If you sneak and choke out lone guards, the will start pairing up on partols. Loads of little stuff like that. So fuck around with play styles

It looks cool, but the black sneaking suit is really useless in daylight.

And if your R&D level isnt high enough to develope an item, you can move people to that team to get the grade you need. After developement is started you can then move them back to their best units and the item will still develope

Fuck, this is like a breakdown on exactly what I've been doing, put on the sneaking suit, running around tranqing and extracting everyone. I did check youtube for top tips but it was just a load of useless stuff like "you can look at photos in the helicopter"

Yes basically everytime you capture an out post it gets a little more difficult the next time you go there.

If you visit Mother Base, every soldier will stop and salute you when you walk past. This increases unit morale. Grab them and interogate them, and they will tell you where they hid a stash of diamonds you can sell

There is a Fast Travel system as well. Every big outpost or base will have one of these

There is a delivery invoice on the post. Collect that and you unlock the fast travel. Stand in the center of it, equip a cardboard box, and it will deliver you to any unlocked base. They have them on Mother Base to. Will save you time running

This is stuff the game doesnt tell you. Ive play this game loads

Ahh spot on, cheers.

It's exactly things like that I was looking for, you always play half these games to find out stuff that makes you think "fuck, I wish I knew that at the start ... I wish I realized how important it was to catch River Wovels in my capture cages, who knew how many wovel furs I would need to make this cool as fuck item?"

btw, do you just have to look at the delivery note on the post to unlock it?

Yeah, there will be a button prompt when you are close enough. You only need to pick it up once and you are good to go

If the guards are on alert at the base, the FT wont work though
Good because with that helicopter, you'd be quicker walking sometime.

I remember I decided to take a helicopter from one platform to the other as it was a fair drive, the fucker flew over there as slow af and circled the platform about 4 times... I'd have been quicker swimming there.
