I have lived in England for the past 58years, but I am proud to be Welsh, especially singing the national anthem at rugby grounds all over the World. That is my idea of Nationalism. Regards Mervyn The Gee.
It's an open roof, Merv....Looking forward to the rugby tomorrow. Hope the "Jocks" beat the French. Should be a great game between England v Wales, I think Wales might just sneak it., but this English team is on fire at the moment, hope that it is an open game. Regards Mervyn The Gee
I think there'd be a lot of interest in the return Mervyn,at either weight. Eubanks Dad is keen on the fight, but I think they'll both want slightly easier opposition first. Im not keen on Brook fighting anybody,I think he should retire for his own safety.Probably wont happen but I would like to see Eubank and BJS.. The scores in favour of BJS were 115-114, 115-113, and the 2019 version Eubank would beat BJS. Shame that Kell Brook and Junior can"t get it together, again another win for Junior. . I just hope that he keeps busy, but he as a hard job ahead in a division overflowing with talent. Regards Mervyn the Gee
Although I haven't completed my research, I believe Ted 'Kid' Lewis has had more fights against former/future world champions than any other British boxer. By my count, he had 33 such fights, with a 13-15-5 record. Admittedly 20 of those were against Jack Britton!Just finished reading "Fighters from the East End" written by a good friend of mine. Bob Lonkhurst. The amount of times some of the fighters fought was incredible. The star pupil at the Judean club was Ted "Kid" Lewis. At the age of Sixteen in 1909, he fought 73 times in three years, winning seventy . In his career he fought nearly 300times including 64 "No Decisions". A great read about some little known "EastEnd"boxers . Regards Mervyn the Gee
You weren't too far off the mark Mervyn. Still got fond memories of watching a game with you mate. It"s 1.45pm, just settling down to watch Wales v Scotland, and then England v Italy. I have a feeling that the first game could be close, with Wales just edging it. No doubts about the second game , England by at least 15 points. Regards Mervyn The Gee
