@Boxfan, nice to hear from you. Two decent games to watch. At half time in the Welsh game I thought it was all over, great come back by the "Jocks", roll on next Saturday . The English game was a bit one sided. If/when relegation happens Italy could be in trouble. Regrds Mervyn The Gee

Yes shame because although you're right Italy are not without SOME talent and I feel a bit sorry for O Shea though I really shouldn't as he could probably buy and sell me. I think maybe relegation could be a good idea. Kind of a play off between the bottom 6 nation side and one other team, maybe Georgia,to decide who gets in.
I enjoyed yesterday afternoon. Watched THREE games, including the women game. Maybe you not too keen on that Mervyn but they were impressive. And I also liked when they beat Italy they went round for a long time signing autographs, having pictures and talking to the crowd. Down to earth stuff.
Im guessing you haven't watched the US bill yet. Im up early. Good stuff.

Over forty years ago I saw Reardon playing at his peak. And I truly believe that he would have beaten O "Sullivan . . For winning his first World title Reardon received one thousand pounds. Iwas earning around 25 pounds per week , so I suppose the winnings were a lot of money to Ray in 1970. Regards Mervyn the Gee

Realpoverty is watching on TV the young children walking many miles just to get clean water. There is poverty in this country, but is there any one really starving through lack of money? I have lived in London, Wales. and now D evon and have yet to meet anyone in this situation. Regards Mervyn The Gee

Hi Mervyn. Get well soon mate. As you no doubt know I want Ireland to win. But it counts for nothing if England lose to Scotland. Not TOO likely but not exactly Tyson/Douglas. I think Wales/Ireland will be a nail biter, with your team possibly shading it. Hope not!!.
BTW have you watched the Sam Warburton documentary on BBC. Legend on the pitch and just an ordinary nice guy off it.
Thanks for the tip about ITV boxing didn't know. Will have a look. Take care.

@Boxfan, the Garcia fight could be exciting, still fancy Spence. I would not be really surprised if Ireland win , depends if Wales play an open game, if so it"s Wales for me. The "Jocks"always like to be beat England, but this English side will be too good for them. Regards Mervyn The Gee

So glad to read in Boxing News thatAnthony Ogogo as seen sense and decided to retire. He as had Seven operations on his eyes in the past 30 months. He also had problems with his hands and ligaments. He had won eleven out of twelve fights and without this horrendous run of injuries I have no doubt he would have figured prominently in the fight game. Good luck to him for the future. Regards Mervyn The Gee

You should give this video a watch if you get the chance, Mervyn:

There is some profanity which is understandable given the situation, but it shows how affable Ogogo is.

He no doubt would have been more successful as a boxer than he has been. Like you Im glad he's decided not to box against would have been absolutely silly of him to do so.
But now, lets have some of the "boxing people" who keep talking about "compassion" in "our sport" give this lad who came across as such a gent on "The Island" and other programmes some kind of job hopefully within boxing. He was pretty good when he worked on Boxnation for a spell. Give him another chance, wherever.
That would be "nice to see"

Forget about giving multimillionaires like Carl Froch, David Haye and Tony Bellew punditry/commentary jobs. Those television roles should be saved for capable people such as Ogogo, the type who've had their pro boxing careers cut short. Isn't that what Sky did for Spencer Oliver?

"Boxfan, Unfortunately, "The Boxing People" only appear to be compassionate when the boxer is helping to fill their bank account. As you rightly say Ogogo could definitely give something back to boxing, and hopefully one of the groups will extend a hand to this young man. . Different subject, but I have now come down firmly on Wales to win tomorrow, especially as I expect the Roof to be closed. I just hope that it will be an open game and we should then see a great match. Regards Mervyn the G ee

Very true. I hope they read the comments of yourself,@dkos and myself and out of some kind of decency do something about it. But somehow I doubt it.
Re Wales I think they will very likely win the Grand Slam though Ive not written Ireland off. These three times look about on a par though and Im looking forward to see how they all do in Japan.
BUT come on England!!

@Boxfan, I understand the roof is not going to be closed at Irelands request. This could possibly change the way the game is played as the weather is going to be stormy. Still think Wales will get the win. Regards Mervyn the Gee

Roof or no your lads have made a very good start Mervyn. Half time as I post. Guessing you'll be pretty happy. Myself a little less so ha ha. During this 6 nations I heard Awn Wyn Jones described as "totemic" Bit of a unique word but sounds about right. The man is unbelievable.

What a fantastic afternoon of Rugby. All three games were interesting. France were just too good for Italy, Wales played out of their skins to thrash Ireland, and what can you say after watching the England match? I did a Five match win accumalotor and only need ed England to win. At half time I was already counting my winnings. What a great second half, there were ten of us watching and all of us ended up with sore throats, a magnificent game of rugby, one of the best I have ever seen. Regards Mervfyn the Gee

@thegee Have you read the article in this week's Boxing News about how people use social media and forums to discuss boxing? This very forum even got a mention!

As a respected member of the boxing community, it would be cool if you could send them a letter about how enjoyable it is to post on here. Might even get a few new people to signup :good
