Bad week 1 for the most part
What?? I thought this was a very exciting day.

-Eags and Bills both rallied from 16+ point deficits to win. Wentz seemed to regain his 2017 form over the second half.
-Kyler Murray led his team to a miracle comeback to get a tie in his regular season debut.
-Chargers and Colts went to OT. Brissett defied critics with a commendable performance.
-Seahawks and Bengals came down to the wire.
-Rams held off a late rally by Panthers to win.

On top of that, Dallas and Ravens turned in stellar performances that will make their future games all the more enticing.

Well, the three teams that I was most impressed with in the pre-season were the Pats, Ravens, and Dallas, and I'd say they turned in the three best performances of the day (unless the Steelers can close a 27-point deficit with one quarter remaining...).

Some of the other highlights/takeaways from the day:

-Foles suffers broken collarbone in the very 1st quarter vs. Chiefs.

-Tyreek Hill suffers shoulder injury that's expected to sideline him for at least a few weeks.

-Mahomes performed very well despite the loss of Hill and suffering an ankle sprain.

-Wentz seemed to regain his 2017 form, while Prescott regained his 2016 form.

-Baker's comments about QBs needing to win bit him hard in the ass.

-Jets are still the masters of blowing 4th quarter leads. Lions are competing hard for that title though.

-Brissett stepped into Luck's shoes admirably for the day, and probably should've won if not for a controversial non-TD call by the refs, followed by a case of jelly legs from Adam V.

-Smith-Schuster finding life a lot harder without AB to draw a double-team.

-Jameis Winston still blows.

Watching the giants gives me anxiety.
I wouldn't rule out that Dallas is simply a MONSTER team this season. They looked like they might be in the pre-season.

Having said that, if the Giants aren't leading at the half vs. the Bills next week, Eli will probably be looking for a comfortable spot on the bench.

I honestly don't think eli is the issue.

The Giants must have a pathetic secondary to allow Dak Prescott to torch them like he did. I did not see the game, but Prescott's stats looked Romo-esque for a change.

Brady throwing to Gordon, Brown and Edelman could be ridiculous, never mind when Gronk inevitably comes out of retirement. That offence looked unreal.

Eli is an odd duck. He has never really looked like he enjoys NFL football all that much. The guy has had some great wins, but also looks like he is mailing it in on many days. He is getting old anyway, time to have him ride the pine.

Still no postseason wins since 2011. Still just the one Pro Bowl nod since 2013. Among 29 qualified quarterbacks dating back to 2012, he ranks 25th in passer rating and first with 110 interceptions. Even to those who continue their weekly ritual of watching commemorative DVDs of Super Bowls XLII and XLVI, it should be obvious that the 38-year-old is just about toast.

Zero pass rush, terrible secondary, just totally missing tackles. A fucking embarrassment.
Fans calling for Manning to go like that's the real issue. It is in its fuck. The defense needs a kick up the fucking arse and the o line needs consistency.

And don't get me started on the play calling. Down by 18pts halfway through the 3rd quarter. About 9 yards from Cowboys end zone on 3rd and 2. Who would you give the ball to, to make those yards?

Agreed, Eli's stats were not too bad really, the Giants awful defense made Dak look like a superstar from what I have read.

That said, Eli is 38 years old, and the Giants need to rebuild around a younger QB IMO. If the defense remains so soft, their season is toast anyway.
