Respectfully, what makes you say either of these guys has a shaky chin? I can't recall either ever going down from a light punch.

Gvozdyk took a lot of hits from Mehdi Amar & didn't blink. Granted, Amar isn't a heavy hitter, but Gvozdyk took a few from Stevenson, as well, which says a whole lot more. - And some of those were FLUSH, right on the cheek & forehead. I was actually stunned that Gvozdyk didn't go down.
(IMO, he fought very stupidly in that bout.)

Beterbiev? All I can think of is the KD by Johnson, which looked light more of a balance issue than a real KD. - And then he got up and destroyed Johnson afterwards. Plus, Johnson landed a number of flush hooks, earlier in the fight, and Artur didn't even blink. - And Callum Johnson hits HARD.

So... well, if I'm forgetting something, (possibly) then please post it here.

And again, although Beterbiev has crazy 1-punch power, Gvozdyk has fantastic head slips. (Except in his foolish approach to Stevenson, which I doubt he'll ever repeat.) A flush shot will not come easy for Beterbiev, at least not in the first 6 rounds.

I'm telling you, we could be in for a real treat.
Gvozdyk got dropped big time by Karpency and Beterbiev got dropped by a weak punch in the first round before, theres no way these guys take eachothers shots

Also respectfully:

Karpency landed a perfect hook, and Gvozdyk didn't see it coming at all, so of course he went down. That fact that he got UP shows his chin is very solid, not weak.

When Beterbiev went down against Johnson, he was off balance & the punch (which his Artur's gloves) was more of a push. Beterbiev went down & into the ropes, but his knees never even hit the canvas.

What was the fight you were referring to?

They both get hurt by the rare clean punches that land on them, they dont get hit an awful lot but when they do they seem to be hurt they dont have great chins

Monstrous punchers, huge guys. What the fuck isn't there to like about this one? I think I'm going to have a heart attack watching it. I get shaky like a meth addict going through withdrawals when I watch high-level big punchers fight. I mean I literally get shaky. It's a crazy thing. Love this sport so much.

Beterbiev injured apparently? Fight cancelled?
I read that on the scene but the OP didnt post a source so hopefully bullshit

Even if Beterbiev has to come in with 1 arm he has to take this fight injuries have ruined his career he will be out for another year and probably get stripped and become irrelevant if not

Apparently it was fake news. Fingers crossed.

Gvozdyk absolutely laboured against Stevenson. He took a fair bit of pop and hung in there. His chin is extremely impressive and I think working with Atlas has improved his footwork and defence (though he was waaaay too open against Stevenson).

Beterbiev, can bang, absolutely. He's more aggressive than Gvozdyk, but reminds me of Gassiev in ways. It's the workman jab and power over technique. I don't think his chin is terrible like some are suggesting; Johnson is a big enough hitter.

I seriously think this is fight of the year for boxing fans. Dorticos vs Briedis is the only other that's really peaking my interest to the same extent.

Gvozdyk will nudge him out, imo.

They’re light heavyweights you know. What light heavyweight wasn’t able to be knocked down/out? Probably the best chin in recent times was Tarver. Ward, Hopkins, Kovalev, Pascal, Stevenson etc.
are they all chinny as well?

You just said they have good chins why would they be chinny?

Yeah that’s my point. They’ve all been knocked down or out, and according to you that means a light heavyweight is chinny. So are they chinny? And if not, what’s the difference between them and Beterbiev/Gvozdyk? How does a guy go 10 rounds with Stevenson in an even fight if he is chinny?

Bad example Gvozdyk and Beterbiev havent had that many pro fights and Stevenson was old terrible example again

Stevenson was too old and I reckon he should have stopped after the Badou Jack draw. He had a good career, but I struggle with fighters battling at a high level comfortably into their 40s. I think his intention was to retire at 44/45. It's too dangerous to do it, tbh.

The fight has such potential. I find Beterbiev a little stiff at times, but he can land.

A year ago I would have agreed, and also mentioned that Beterbiev's defense isn't very good.

However, IMO he's shown remarkable improvement in his last few fights.
It's probably good that his people brought him along so slowly, and I think he's close to being ready for primetime.

Gvozdyk also has flaws that have been improving, which makes this fight even more fascinating than just two monsters coming at each other. It's almost a battle of the trainers. Ring advice is gonna' be critical, and I hope the broadcast lets us hear a lot of it, from both corners.
