35-year-old Fiordigiglio is 31-2, 13KOs. Lost both times he attempted to win the European 154lbs title. Last time out on a Matchroom Italy show in April, he scraped by with a ten-round SD against Stephen Danyo.

Seems to be the right level of opponent for Eggington at this stage.

Eggington in a interview a week or so ago said he was working his way back down to 147lb with a few more small hall fights, he obviously knew his main advantage was his weight.

The broadcast begins at 8pm tonight on Sky Sports Action.

Jordan Gill has been added to the bill in an off-TV six rounder against tough journeyman Yesner Talavera. Might get highlights as part of the show.

Ugh, Italian boxers. Tommasone, Boschiero, Fiordigiglio and Morello have an average KO ratio of 30% between them.
It did seem like an odd route for Matchroom when going to Italy, although DAZN might have been the deciding factor in that decision. It's not exactly a hotbed of talent right now.

Apparently Matchroom are venturing into Spain next, which makes more sense.

I think it will be because of DAZN, although it must also be nice staging shows in Florence and Rome rather than the usual grim places matches of this level are often held. Maybe Eddie just fancied a few jollies.

Veteran Devis Boschiero becomes the first person to defeat Ivan Tomas in 11 fights, winning with an 8th round TKO due to facial damage. It was a comfortable one for Boschiero.

Clay looks good. One loss previously in Georgia. What was he thinking going to fight there? Should have stopped the Italian when he had the chance. A final round left to finish him though.

Good win for Sam Eggington. If Eggington does not go down to welter any time soon this strong win could make him the next mandatory for Sergio Garcia (or an opponent for SG already now soon as Vittu seems to have pulled out of the EBU fight against Garcia). I bet Hearn would be happy to have Eggington-Garcia in the UK, or kick off Matchroom Spain with Garcia-Eggington as a headliner.

He doesn't sell many tickets and his trainer at the time was Eastern Europe. And alot of people out of that gym were boxing in Eastern Europe.
