Peaky Blinders -- Season 5 Starts August 25

dont see another thread on this.....any other viewers of it here ?

have a question on the latest episode...

we seen the peaky blinders go to london and get into a scrap in a night club, after being approached by a new character called 'sabini'...i am convinced that alan ford (aka bricktop) did the voiceover / dubbing (however i should term it) for the actors accent....just guessing, but wondering if anyone else thought that

I love it. My missus absolutely adores the main man, but i think Sam Neil as the Belfast copper steals every episode.

Honest to God. Seemed a bit forced.
Oooh right, i thought you were gonna say you hated the accent when i thought you were from the midlands  Ye some of them were pretty poor but others were ok I though, it's just nice to hear it without the character being the butt of some joke about being stupid

I read it was set in Birmingham. The thought of the accent put me off watching it. Is it worth a watch?

It's definitely worth a watch. It's great imo. Plus I admit I'm a sucker for anything set in the early 1900's. It's like the British version of Boardwalk Empire.

A noble savage.

That was part of it, though I'm not from the Midlands originally. You're right about the stupid thing though; regional British accents tend to be very stereotyped.

The worst thing is apart from Peaky Blinders whenever a Brummie character is on TV they have to have this weird caricature accent, a real drawl and then people say they hate it. I love the accent so much hah
