How many rest days do you fellas take per week, and what is your age?

I think i overtrain for 42 and dont rest enough. Thing is i just love training and if i stop even for a day i get proper twitchy. It's like my body/mind has become adjusted to the endorphins and sensation of being knackered from it all. I do 6 days a week at moment, some days harder, but still, i think i have two days of just fuck all but a bit of walking, i'd be a lot better for it.
I'm 41 almost 42 and I lift 4 days per week and then run on the 3 days I don't lift so I exercise every single day. I love training too, I get irritable if I don't train.

I used to do 6 days per week about a 18 months ago but my body couldn't handle it was getting real bad tendonitis in my elbows and was getting injured loads. Dropped it to 5 days and did that for a while but even that was too much and now just do 4 days and that seems to be my limit at the moment. No major injuries, niggling little ones but nothing that stops me from lifting.

I need to deload way more often, preferably every 4-5 weeks, I went 8 weeks without a deload recently and by week 7 my body was giving me warning signs to rest, week 8 I was really feeling it. But after I deloaded, wow the difference, everything felt easier and a bunch of niggling injuries disappeared.

I'm 31 and train 3 days. 2 weekly games of football. Do long dog walks on my rest days

4 days a week, rest 3. More rest the better for me, you grow and progress whilst resting, it's counter productive to train everyday. Especially if you have subpar genetics like me.

Average maybe 4 days of training most weeks now. Rarely that'll dip to 3.

I run/sprint once or twice a week and play fitba once a week but I don't count them as work days, tbh.

I'm mid 30s.

Deadlift session today, went well, felt nice to deadlift over 100kg again. Dropped weight on calf raises and doing them much slower with a pause now, see if this makes any difference as my calves haven't gotten any bigger ever, though I have always had naturally quite big calves, but now my arms are bigger than my calves I'd like to add some size there.

Deadlift 3x1 @93.5kg / 2x2 @99kg / 1x3 @104.5kg
Sumo Deadlift 5x5 @80kg
Squats 12x3 45kg
Glute Ham Raises 12x3
Paused BB Calf Raises 12x3 @73.5kg superset with ab work

This got me thinking, man. We're all on here biggin' @craigseventy up but where is the cunt? Posting PBs on Facebook and Instagram but nowhere to be seen on here. Completely forgetting that it was me , you and Smudge, the fitness trifecta, that got him where he is today...basically.
Still lurking in the shadows. You’d be surprised how many guys in here actually kept me motivated (no homo). I’ve been on the British a fair bit but this forum since it changed doesnt seem to play ball on this phone.

I’ve joined a new gym and Mandela you’d be In heaven it’s basicaly full of fitness models. I say new I’ve been there months now, probably the best gym in the country I reckon. Ive been focusing mostly on bodybuilding which seems to have helped my strength improve which is nice as I didn’t enjoy training strength specific. Pbs are now

Squat: 267.5kg
Bench: 186.5kg
Deadlift: 282.5kg

Currently weighing about 102kg but will be dropping to around 92kg when I get around to cutting.

Bomber is looking very good in his pics (semi homo)

Is luf still following that floppy haired twats routine?

Smudger kept on smudgin I see

Come here more regularly man. Feels like the old guard is slowly getting back into it, even though you kept on training whilst we rotted away on our sofas for a few years. Even @Oddson came in to post once about him getting a gf then fucked off never to be seen again. Congrats Oddson.

This thread is inspiring tbh though.

Lol I did it for 7 months but then I outgrew it. After two years of circuit/hiit stuff I really started to hate the training side of things because of how low the weights were.

I follow James Smith now, do a 3*12 progressive strength program from home and just calorie count the fuck out of life.

If the page will stop logging me out every time I open it, that would be great. Oddson was top fuck boy as if he’s found the one. Mandela left his wife yet?

Yeah part of the fun for me is logging weights and trying to beat them, progressive overload should be everyone’s priority, that extra set or extra rep or even just adding 0.5kg. Glad you ditched him.

Tbh I started Joe Wicks cos I wanted to see if I could get lean from home, without going to a gym. Once I achieved that I was like "what next" and his plan never actually progresses, it's just hiit forever.

I did miss lifting heavier and tracking my lifts, I started this in Jan, inputting my latest numbers into strength.com once a month to track it

OHP session today, went fine.

OHP 3x5 @52kg
Incline Bench 6x5 @65kg
Pull Ups 6x5 @30kg
Arnold Press 12x3 @13kg superset with EZ Bar Curl 12x3 @25kg
Lateral Raises 12x3 @10.5kg superset with Band Pull Aparts 12x3

Stalled on my bulk, weight not changed in last 2 weeks, should of gained 1 lbs in that time frame. I even upped cals to 3000 cals last week and still nothing, will add another 100 cals next week and see if that makes any difference.

Has your activity been higher than usual? Extra cardio can reduce a surplus back down to maintenance

Nope, been doing the same level of cardio, even skipped one cardio session this week and my overall weekly routine has not changed at all. I can only assume either my tracking of cals is off or my BMR has increased along with the weight I have gained. Either way I'll just need to up calories.

I had hoped to be about 139-140lbs by this week am currently 137lbs. I had planned to bulk only for another week but might just keep bulking until I get to 140lbs and then start to do a gradual cut for the summer.

Woke up this morning with a big knot in my back just under my left scapular. Foam rolled it but that didn't help much so went at it with a lacrosse ball for about 10 mins and that seemed to work. Not 100% but felt much better and my range of movement felt pretty normal.

Long run this morning was mean to be 7 miles as per usual but conditions were awful, wind was crazy strong by the sea front and at times I was fighting hard to just keep moving forward. At one point I ran near the beach volley ball court on the seafront and the wind was whipping the sand up everywhere, was like running through a little sand storm. I didn't get to 2 miles before I had to turn round and run with the wind for a bit. I then turned round again and ran back into the wind for another mile and a half or so before turning around again.

Ending up doing 6 miles in 54:26, I had plenty left in the tank in regards to cardio capacity but pushing against the wind had left my feet and arms feeling really fatigued for some reason. Not a pleasant run at all, pacing was all over the place. Though at one point when I was running with the wind, I was barely trying probably putting in as much effort as I would going 8:30 pace but the wind was pushing me along at such a pace I had to increase cadence and it felt like I was running like my 400m pace but with almost no effort.

Legs and shoulders.

Squats
RDL / DB press
BB hip thrusts / military press
Lat raises / band pull aparts

Missed yesterday as I was helping a mate, who is an arborist, trim trees. I was just hauling the branches as he caught. Couple of tonne in total. Then had to move half of them about 20 yards today. Got fitba tonight.

Doesn't make up for the absolute travesty of a cheat day I had yesterday though.
