Congrats man. Tbh some things are far more important than training though, just do what you can do exercise wise.

Myself and the Mrs are discussing kids (by discussing I mean she's asking when and I'm trying my best to avoid) and I'm honestly dreading it completely fucking up my exercise schedule. I'm selfish as fuck tho so it'll be her fault for wanting to have kids with me when I eventually do a runner tbh.
Well worth it tbh mate, best feeling ever.

Congrats Luf, you're in for a rough 3 months, lol.

The sleep deprivation alone is a killer. If you haven't stumped up the cash for a Tommee Tippee for the night feeds, I would do so, they are a life saver.

In terms of keeping the weight off, you could try IF or OMAD, you'll be so busy any way with the constant cycle of feeding, burping, changing nappies and sterilising bottles it might free up some time by not having to cook during the day, then when the little one is asleep have your big evening meal.

But then again best laid plans with a baby can go out the window, so maybe just try and survive those early months until you can get back to some kind of normalcy.
Literally bought a perfect prep machine last night mate, life saver is exactly what it's been haha.

It's the food as well, everything has been convenience food atm so it's not just the calorie count but the lack of protein. Combine that with no sleep and no exercise and I'll basically have a dad bid after this two weeks lol.

On the flip side my transformation will look epic haha.

That's awesome, mate. Congrats. What's her name?

Babies are great for progressive overload, btw. Use her for squats and bench press and as she naturally grows so do you.

Other than that, just enjoy this time, man. Don't get hung up on the less important things. Not that I'm enabling laziness as you have a kid now and need to stay fit and healthy but priorities are different now.
Emily :)

Haha baby gym is gonna be one of my favourite hobbies once she can support her neck.

It's the message I wanna pass as well tbh, being healthy, being active, eating right.

So anyways my little girl was born on Sunday. Labour was from Friday afternoon.

Currently on pat leave.

Needless to say my holy trifecta of sleep, nutrition and exercise has gone out of the window for now.

I'm going to carry on existing until the weekend then I need to get my shit back together.

I gain extreme amounts of weight in ridiculously short times so I'll probably update on Friday saying I am now 16.5 stone or something daft like that.

As you were.
I pretty much wrote the first month or so off when both of my kids were born. After that the first year or so sucks with the interrupted sleep (although my first one was a fantastic sleeper so I won't complain too much).

Nutrition is probably the one area you still have maximum control. As much as you can't be fucked just make sure you're getting as much nutrient dense food as possible, don't worry about a little bit of weight gain as long as you're feeling healthy.

Also make a lot of shit in advance so you can just reheat it rather than trying to cook whole meals when you're running on 2 hours of sleep and the baby is screaming for a feed and you've still got shit on your hands from the last change.

4 mile run yesterday, 2 miles slow, then 2 at tempo. Really didn't want to run, lm really sleep deprived, have had a headache for 2 days now. Usually a run gets rid of my headache, but didn't work this time.

Didn't do press up challenge as planned was simply too tired.

Deadlift max test this morning, felt tired as fuck, again didn't sleep well last night. But session went better than expected. Managed to pull 151kg which went up pretty easily. Maybe could of done more but being so tired l didn't want to push it.

Still have a headache, it's not the piercing pain behind the eyes balls it was yesterday, now just an annoying ache. I hate taking pain killers but fuck it 3 days is too much for me to take.

I don't doubt that, I definitely want kids at some point. Just right now it scares me a bit tbh.

I get migraines which last days. Annoying dull ache right behind my eyes, also effects my stomach somehow because I feel really sick and also lethargic. Fucking sucks, because even though I can take painkillers to dull the headache, the nausea and general feeling of shite still lingers.

Reason number 8368 why I'm genetically fucked.

Every few months I will get into dead lifts but than I tend to lose interest.

I only use really low weight though...rarely going above 275 and usually doing 225.

Tomorrow is my first workout as I try to go from dad bod to fit bod.

Here's my rough plan :

2600 calories a day.
150g of protein divided between meals reasonably evenly.
3 resistance based circuit workouts a week. (20-40 minutes)
3 days of pushup challenge a week.
2 games of football a week.
10000 steps a day.

All of that is obviously behind being a dad and being a husband, but I think it's manageable because I have a home gym and shouldn't need to spend more than 40 minutes in at any one time.

So today's the day I get back on it.

Taking my measurements today, weight is now 98.8kg, body fat is now 21.3% (both from my scales) and my abs look like a long lost memory.

I know that a lot of what I've put on in the week is water weight and bloating, I do know that, but atleast now I have a starting point.

Did a workout this morning, just a circuit based one (40 seconds on, 20 seconds off) targeting my chest and triceps with sprints in between each round.

Feel so much better for getting started.

#DadBodToLeanBod day 1.

Fuck me some people are so thick/easy to scam. Chatting to some woman at the gym, she pays like 100quid a month and has been doing for a year, in that time she lost 2kg and put it back on. So a month ago I said her cals are way too high, she's on 3500cal weighing 62kg, today she moaned she had put weight on, I again told her that her cals are way too high and that they'd be maintenance for me at 30kg heavier. She is convinced she's not losing weight because her body temp is too low and she just needs to get it up and she will be a fat burning machine, how will she do this?... Add more cals. She refuses to acknowledge she's eating too much and it's incredibly frustrating to listen to now. Even said, your answer is the easy logical one but I don't think that's what I need.

I've heard lots of people go too low in calories when trying to lose but never people trying to lose on such a high amount!

The only way she's losing on 3500 is if she does cardio every minute she's awake.

Apparently cardio isn't an option right now, she doesn't want 5o add it in too early.

Some people are really weird man. There's just no excuse for shit like this now the internet is so available. A few hours researching and discussing on some forums will be enough for most people to get going on the right path.

It's just a case of burying her head in the sand I reckon. She knows she's eating too much but she enjoys it so goes to the gym to equal it out. That's my expert psychoanalysis of her without even having any interaction with her.

It makes me wonder, would I actually go to the gym if I didn't have a goal in mind? Would I do it just for the sense of well being? Dunno if I would tbh. Probably go for runs or something.

Wow, I have no tolerance for people that stupid or delusional, would have just Bert stared her and walked away or told her to really burn more cals she should douse herself in kerosene and light a match then watch the body fat just melt away, lol.
