Why do you kneel down before deadlifting? Not trying to say anything, just find it interesting, always see you do it.
It's a good question. Two reasons, I have wrist straps on and it's the easiest way for me to tighten them. But also deadlifts for me really get in my head and I massively massively over think them so I found that if I kinda just pop up off the floor rather than standing ready to do them, I don't have time to over think them. Mostly though it's the straps I think as I never did it before I started using them.

Imagine just lifting 200kg off the floor. Fucking mental.
Yeah I know. Just 200? Could at least do some working sets ffs.

Yeah I'm the same man. I stand there staring at the floor trying to psych myself up, but at the same time not look like a complete weirdo. It's a tough one for sure. I remember a few weeks back I almost started hyperventilating because I was over thinking about deadlifting ffs, I lifted it once then nearly fainted.

Got off keto after three months, fuck that. Just boring as fuck, and ultimately a bit autistic.

Eating proper healthy lowish carb, but plenty of porridge, salads and veggies and fish instead.

Feel way more energy for my workouts and all round better for it. Definitely need a bit of carbs for gains too. The KETO cultists will tell you you dont, but certainly seems that way to me anyway.

Bench session today, testing 2 rep max, with how my workouts have been going lately I started off a bit lower in weight than I normally just to gauge how I was feeling. Did 2 reps with 86kg which felt fine so tried to equal my PB for 2 reps which is 89kg which I managed, though was obviously tough. Rest of workout went well, good to finally do a session where nothing went wrong.

Bench 2 rep max test @89kg 2 reps completed
Bench 3x2 @73kg /AMRAP - 6 reps completed / AMRAP - 4 reps completed
Paused Bench 7x2 @59kg
Incline Bench 3x6 @58kg superset with DB Shoulder Press 3x6 @15kg
Lateral Raise 3x12 @6kg superset with Rear Delt Flyes 3x12 @10.5kg
DB Flyes 3x12 @22kg superset with Dips 3x12 @7kg

Do you use calculations to determine the weight you should lift or a certain percentage for each rep range?

Fuck keto, I would really struggle without carbs. Also I'd imagine it gets extremely expensive

Just off to Hull for a gym date, they have 100kg dbs which I've wanted to try for on rdls for ages so I'm either gonna look strong or like a right wally

That Friday workout in the wee gym ruins me, man. Too many reps, I reckon. All in the 12-15 range for 4 sets.

On cable crossovers I got up to 4x15 @60 last week so put it up to the next weight, which is 70, and couldny fuckin budge them. Used a bit of momentum to get them forward a bit but when the momentum wore off they nearly fuckin catapulted me right back through the machine like some sketch show skit, ffs.

Had to do 4x16 on 60.

Deadlifts today, did Sumo again and kept it lighter than normal just did reps of 2 with 111kg and then a couple of AMRAP sets but didn't actually do as many as I could did 4 then 3 but could of done at least another rep on each, I don't want to push myself too hard just yet as my back still doesn't feel 100%.

Front squats I was meant to do 7x2 with 72kg but felt too heavy so dropped to 68kg but midway through 4th set my back felt uncomfortable so just stopped and abandoned front squats and just did the rest of my workout but didn't do RDL's as planned, just trying to keep my back from going again.

Overall happy with Sumo DL's they felt lighter this week but still think I need to be really careful in managing how much I do and not to over stress my back.

So next week is the start of my new rep range. Going from 1x16-20 to 3x12-16.

I'll use supersets for some exercises but not for others.

Here's my workout for tomorrow:

Flat Bench
Incline Bench/Incline Fly
Right Kickback/Left Kickback
Standing Extensions.

So 6 exercises altogether, 2 single sets and 2 supersets.

I've split it like that because the single set exercises are the ones I'm using for my goal E1RM so I wanna have the best chance of getting bigger numbers with them.

What a shock to the system that was.

I have a slightly newer approach for me when handling multiple sets, I used to try to average out my effort over every set, now I give 100% effort every set so my first set is always my best one, the other sets however aren't as strong because I wasn't leaving anything in the tank.

All with dumbbell pairs, target 16 reps

Flat Bench: 27.5kg 16, 15, 13

Incline Bench: 22.5kg 16,14,12
Incline Fly 15kg 12,12,12

Right Kickback 12.5kg(1) 12,12,12
Left Kickback 12.5kg(1) 12,12,12

Standing Extensions 20kg(1) 16,14,12

Deads are flying at the moment, only real change I made Is doing ghr and training abs, did 260kgx5 today

I definitely need to train abs more, man.

I went to the doctor about my hernia and she told me i don't have a hernia...but i'm close to getting one. She says doing heavy lifts strain the abs so if they lag behind other muscles it strains them like this which leads to hernias. I lol'd at her implication of "heavy" lifts but left it there.

I also think i need to train triceps. I don't train arms and as I've been progressing my OHP to primary school kids levels I find my triceps are fatiguing like fuck, man.

I can't train arms due to my tendentious but do chins/pulls variants every workout so hopefully that enough.
