Pet owners, do you talk to your pets?

You call her Xenadu for short? Don't you mean you call her Zenna for short?

I won't have full-blown one-way conversations with my dog (that's bat-shit crazy behavior), but I will talk to him to either give him a command, find out what he wants, put him at ease when he's pissed off or nervous, or get him excited for going out somewhere.

I used to discuss world politics with Lillie (my little Staffordshire Bull Terrier) when she was with me, the fucking old lass must have been so fucked off. I would talk her through fights on a fight night, and I used to tell her how much I hated what was on television as I watched it.

I also used to tell her how much I adored her, how much I cared for her, ask her whether she wanted to go for a walk, whether she wanted her dinner, whether she would like a treat.

She always spoke back with a bark or a knowing look.

Xanadu kinda like a play on words for Scooby Doo.

I think at the 2:30 mark I begin to lose my marbles

Just clarify that a little further because I completely think your miles out.
Dogs mainly communicate with each other with their eyes, movement, expressions, and some vocalization.

I find it that my dogs respond best to me when I use signals, postures, expressions, and some vocaliztion.

For example when they are naughty and break something my stare posture tells them I'm unhappy and they react to it more so than if I just said bad dogs.

Yeah but just normally. I won't speak in a silly voice just cuz I'm chatting to a cat, for example.

I haven't got any pets though
