That gator looked more like an iguana in size and it was not great shakes saving that pup from it. Not enough gator hide in that baby to make a wallet and a kids belt, but he did get in there and save his pup, so good on him.

But, I'd be willing to bet if it was a 6+ footer, it probably would have been a different story.
Yeah that was a baby gator. If it was a midsize gator that puppy would have been lunch whether he tried to save it or not.

What do gators bring to the ecosystem in the US?

I find it bizarre that massive gators are allowed to live in areas with popular golf courses and theme parks.

All gators and snakes should be culled in areas where humans live.

I can't think of much they do to help out with the exception of eating nutria in S.E. Louisiana. Our nutria population is out of control and they are one of the reasons La. is losing a lot of land to erosion every year as they eat the marsh grasses and dig huge dens in the sides of canals and leave the mud exposed to erosion.

Gator populations have grown exponentially over the years and that is causing problems with them ranging out from isolated areas into more populated areas. They are showing up in places you'd not expect to see gators, and showing up in numbers.

And now that there are farms that raise gators for their hides and meat, the price hunters are getting for them has dropped to ridiculously low levels to where it's getting almost not worth it to hunt them in the wild. Between the size boat you need, the permits, land leasing fees, bait, hooks, line and fuel, it all adds up quickly.

Oh fuck!!

Any more context on this?

Looks to me the trucks front right hand tyre blew out which started it all.

Did the people in the car survive?
It looks like something faulty in the roadway at an expansion joint caused the tire of the white van to blow out that caused all that carnage.

If anyone survived in that car, it would be a miracle with the way it flipped on the overhead roadway and then plummeted to the area below the road.

That's amazing. I worked in emergency services for over 20 years and I too saw miraculous things when it came to auto accidents. Some total wrecks and all people lived and other wrecks looking like medium fender benders and people maimed and killed. I guess if it's your time, then there's nothing you can do about it.

I was at the scene of a semi that flipped on its side at an intersection a few years back. I got there after it flipped and watched out of curiosity to see how they were going to get it upright.

They were walking around talking about how they were going to flip it and laughing nonchalantly, no rush. Just redirecting traffic. A giant fat fire captain was there walking around the the trailer and he stops and cocks his head like a dog. Then he screams "HEY!!!! SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!" all the firemen freeze and are stone silent, this fat bastard drops on his knees and yells "fire department!!!!" Then he starts yells "are you the only one in the vehicle?" "Then he turns and yells "get the bags and cribbing there's a fucking car under here!!!!!!!!"

There were other guys closer to the trailer but that fat bastard had supersonic ears or some shit. I was shocked that there was a car under the trailer because it looked like it was laying flush on its side. When they got it up you could see the side of the trailer buckled and had an indentation from where the car was, and the car looked like a pancake when they dragged it out after they had raised the trailer just enough to let one of those nuts slide under it and hook chains to it.

Was very impressive seeing them in action.
