I think it's a bad idea and even worse if he is going down in weight after this. Might as well retire win or lose and consider what offers come his way in the future.

Son of Judges Canelo would be lucky to go the distance. Crazy idea of a fight, but he's the biggest name in Boxing it's understandable nothing else interest him as much as a LHW title. If they do fight I hope it's not at a catchweight.

This is a step way, way too fucking far. I cannot, under any circumstances, see Canelo winning that one.

Ridiculous.

I realize leetle Canelito loves to fight big name fighters when they're well past their prime, but this one can't end well. The Gingican doesn't have the footwork to dance away & depend on his pet judges. He has great head slips, of course, but while Golovkin strangely didn't go to the body much, Sergey won't make that mistake.

They'll have the biggest ring allowed by the rules, but it won't likely help.

Kovalev has won the lottery of the year if this happens, even if there rehydration clause is -5 lbs.

Canelo weighed in at 165 for Chavez Jr and easily hydrated 15lbs but he was roided and eventually got caught if he fought Kovalev with no testing he could come in at 185lbs

I do find it odd that Canelo camped out at 155 for so long because of weight issues and him not wanting to move up to 160 but is now jumping up and down multiple divisions with no hesitation. There is something highly suspicious about that.

Wanted to establish himself at his ‘best’ weight division, now he has and wants to establish a legacy by chasing greatness? Stood up to the apparent hardest puncher in the sport no problem, beat up a paper title holder at super middle. Tested the waters, Jacobs is basically a light heavy. This wouldn’t be happening if he didn’t lose his zero to Floyd. What’s suspicious about it, what are you implying?

Going from 155 to 154 (with no testing), going up to 164, back to 160, going to 168, back down to 160 and now talking about up to 175 (which would probably be contested around 172 tbh) is suspicious to me for someone of his build who has had the weight issues before and also failed a couple tests. My implications are strong, sure, but not unfounded. I can't think of another fighter who jumped around like that. It'll catch up to him eventually.

Good luck to Canelo for coming up and challenging himself but the reason he stalled at 155 was to wait until they thought GGG was ripe for the picking. Hardly a secret.

We're all aware of that. Hopkins made comments during the Brook fight about GGG so it's no wonder why they waited another year for that fight to happen. Golovkin looked like shit leading up to the fight and looked horrible at the weigh-in and during the fight. They knew what they were doing with Khan/Smith/Chavez. Those fights were completely pointless but gave team Canelo time to age Gennady just a bit more because they saw he wasn't what he once was.

170 catchweight!? Kovalev is going to die. He's rehydrates 10 lbs. consistently, and he's old.

Pretty informative article. 170 catch weight for Kovalev:mad2, Golovkin uninterested in Andrade and Charlo, but likely to fight WBC ranked #3 fighter that is 19-0 with 4 KOs :patsch. Golovkin is almost 40 I don't really blame him and it be nice if Charlo and Andrade fought each other.
I think the guy who made the article made up about the 170lbs part cant find it anywhere else
