Moves like this are what annoy me about modern wrestling. The idea of a moonsault being countered by a kick is fine...but the moonsault wouldn't be close to landing. He's nowhere near Ospreay and there'd be no reason to think Ospreay would end up on the outside, it just looks very contrived. I'm not a purist about what pro-wrestling should be like either, especially as I don't watch anymore, but you just look at a lot of flippy wrestling these days and whilst it's athletically incredible, they've forgotten the essence of wrestling and just want it to be as visually shocking and impressive as possible even if it makes no sense. How can anyone watch that clip and not think "What is Ibushi doing"? Even if he doesn't get kicked in the chest, he still does a moonsault to the floor. Stan Hansen wouldn't moonsault the floor.

I had the same thoughts seeing that clip.

there is 2 types of people watching wrestling, actual people and sad wwe marks. the first wants to be entertained, the second has this weird idea that they can't be worked because they are so knowledable about booking wrestling shows, and therefore refuses to suspend disbelief or enjoy anything that isn't exactly what they would have booked.

once the fans refuse to suspend disbelif all the wrestlers can do is gymnastics. how would game of thrones go if fans shitted all over realistic interactions and violence and demanded more backflips? it'd be shit, just like so much wrestling is.

I wish they'd let Elias win a big match or two. He has to be one of the three or four most entertaining guys on the roster and he gets tremendous heat, but every time I see him he's just getting squashed by the top guys or taking another L against a midcarder.
