Enemy of the State

I forgot how entertaining this film was, seems quite underrated as well as prophetic these days.

Young Guns (1988).

Another strange 80's movie with some Bray Pack alumni.

I loved this as a kid. Emilio Estevez is Billy the Kid, who ends up teaming up with some other "regulators" including Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

It still has some fun action sequences, but as an overall movie it doesn't hold up the way it does when you are a child.

Mainly because of Billy the Kid. He's an odd hero, because he is a total psycho who is always murdering people.

He's also a terrible character and unbalances the film because he's the smartest, the best shot, the leader, and generally just a pain.

It looks nice and authentic though, and some of the shootouts are still exciting.

2/5
Feel exactly the same.

Was 18 when it was released and memory holds it way higher than reality when i watch it nowadays for some reason.

Missus puts in on every few months i suppose and still enjoy it but again you are bang on with Billy.Unhinged to a point of being an annoying cunt and was there any need for it when it unbalances the gang so much?

Doc was my favourite as a kid. I thought he was cool.

I also think I fancied the Chinese sex slave. Not sure I knew she was a sex slave at the time though.

I still liked it when I was a teenager too. But I was really disappointed watching it back now.

Senna

Brilliant documentary about the life and times of the Brazilian racing driver.

A Hard Days Night

If you're a fan of the Beatles then you'll probably love this, I however am not a fan of the Beatles so I thought it was a bit silly.

Eastern Promises

A brilliant gangster film by David Cronenberg with the cast on top form, especially Viggo Mortenson

Badlands

A classic 70's film with Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek as lovers on the run leaving a trail of dead bodies in their wake, great film.

TAG - Japanese horror movie. Weird and surreal, spent most of the movie just trying to figure our what the hell is really happening as this wind is slicing schools girls in half and that isn't even the weird part. Story repeatedly flips on it's head as the lead suddenly becomes a completely different character with a different back story and plot. Wasn't until about a 3rd way in I realised there wasn't a single man or boy in the entire film which just added to the surreal, weird vibe and nothing was what it seemed.

Overall I enjoyed it, part gory horror flick, part exploitation B movie, 100% weird. 7/10, fun but in the end I found the ending a bit pointless and unsatisfying.

The Blues Brothers

A star studded musical action comedy which I've not seen in years and was quite apprehensive about watching again in case I didn't enjoy it as much as I did as a young lad, no worries though, still a fantastically fun film.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World

Never seen it before and ended up being pleasantly surprised by this film about a guy who in order to win over a girl he must defeat her 7 "evil exes" in martial arts computer game styled duels. I found it funny and entertaining.

Erin Brockovich - Julia Roberts at her best, great emotional, feel good movie where you root for the plucky underdog and they come good. So many great scenes, Roberts has so many great lines in this film as she throws insults at those who've crossed her. 10/10 movie for me, I must of watched it at least 10 times now and each time I'm left thoroughly entertained.

Level 16 - Dystopian future type film. Bunch of orphaned girls raised in some institute/school under strict rules with the goal they are raised to be good clean girls who when then reach level 16 will be adopted by a rich family. Obviously the motives of those in charge are far more sinister. Found this mildly entertaining but overall forgettable other some decent acting from the lead there's nothing new or fresh about this film. 5.5/10.
