Looking back on it I may very well be talking out of my arse, I thought some of the Naz cards were more stacked than they actually are.
I've been posting on esb/chb for over 12 years and this is the first time I've ever seen anyone admit they might be wrong. I wish i could buy you a pint seriously.

That said people talk complete bollocks in my opinion about boxing 'back in the day'. Again, I'm happy to be proved wrong.

I honestly think he’s just fucking star struck/intimidated half the time, hence why all these old fighters end up with jobs.

Can you ever imagine him sacking Froch for being a shit commentator? Which he undoubtedly is! He’d probably go in to sack him and Froch would come out with a pay rise. Which is why Froch will still be talking absolute nonsense when he’s Jim Watt’s age.

Same with the Hearn. Really, he runs Sky boxing. I doubt Smith has ever turned down fights proposed by Matchroom. He just seems like a complete fucking drip who wouldn’t say boo to a goose, so not exactly convinced he actually has any meaningful input?

His meetings with the likes of Hearn probably are them saying what fights they want to put on and when and Smith going “Ok”.

The Sky cards are generally muck and anything even fringe world level is slapped onto PPV. Sky boxing is away to the dogs.

Boxing in the UK is bigger and better(?) than it was when Smith took control of the sky output. I think he's done great, also seems to have questioned Hearn lately around the quality of the cards and whether DAZN get the better cards than Sky.

Also, met him once and spent around 10mins talking to him at the sky studios, he's a nice bloke who really does love his boxing. Shite commentator though.

Can the explosion of interest in British boxing be credited to him or Hearn?

He's a shit commentator though.

Both. But mostly Hearn.

Smith gave him the platform, but I doubt he imagined they'd do what they've done.

If, as expected Daniel Kinahan is eventually convicted of ordering murders surely Adam Smith has to get shut of all the Sky staff who’ve been promoting him & praising him.

Macklin was / is a close pal of his, Paul Smith calls him a gentleman, Jonny Nelson praises him on videos & shares his propaganda & Dave Coldwell shares his propaganda as well.

Sky got rid of Keys & Gray for a bit of sexism so surely these lot have to go. You can’t be going around defending or promoting a mass murderer?

People say "British boxing is booming" but it's not is it. It is a niche sport now, televised boxing coverage is at a low. Used to be a card on most weeks, before Covid it was about once a month excluding box office. I bet the average member of the public couldn't name a British World Champion other than Joshua or Fury. Mainstream interest in the sport is negligible. I do blame Sky's deal with Matchroom, killed off coverage for other promotions.
