The illustrious cunt of a mayor of our city decided to shut down all the bars for a week, no limited seating, not outdoor seating, no take-out, just flat shut the doors and have the owners and staff stay home.
Some opened like the old speakeasys of the times of prohibition in the 20's and some of them got busted. Funny seeing people running out of bars from back doors or rooftops trying to evade the cops.

Reason they closed everything is because of Mardi Gras. If they allowed partial openings everyone would have congested together.
So they closed it all down...and as you say people still disobeyed the closings.
Last year Mardi Gras was followed by a huge Covid spike.
So my guess is that's why they closed them.
Should have locked all the bar goers in and set the places on fire.
