Resistance band/loop workouts??

Yea. I should have been more proactive, back in March. I've got a forever recurring chondromalacia patella issue. So my running suffers in that I have to keep the knee braced with a monster of a brace. Still should be running as it is the best kind of cardio to keep me motivated to move forward. I also let myself get demotivated that I can't really lunge or squat without it hurting like a bitch. My knee tracks like shit, and really I need to get my legs strong again and make sure that I keep it from flaring.

Anyway, I really appreciate the post, man. Thanks.
I need to get my left knee looked at when the whole covid thing dies down a bit.

It's not sore, but I am aware of it when I'm doing certain exercises. Feels like there is a weakness there.

I used to do a lot of running and football (soccer), so it will have wear and tear. I still do some light running, but I focus on more on high intensity circuits and lifting now.

I'm trying to avoid any exercises that put too much strain on it, and I've got a light knee brace as well. So fingers crossed it holds up.

Have you spent much time using them yourself? What'd you think?
I just have a few....and not really heavy duty ones.

I've mostly been doing body weight stuff and using a set of 20 pound and 40 pound dumbbells (also have one of the door strap things that I mostly use to simulate rows with my body weight).

However I posted that video because that guy has been doing band videos for awhile now and supposedly only does bands.

His stuff is bodybuilder focused but seems pretty legit.

I watched a few of them. The guy could be completely full of shit and is definitely on a little gear, but he certainly convinced me that you can get the same results, but more safely. Also his points about stabilizer muscles were interesting.

He's posted some dope looking workouts. While what I'm getting are the tube style that he doesn’t like as much, the same exercises apply.

Thanks so much

Yeah he's been doing it for awhile. Shows a lot of clever modifications of how to hit basically every body part with bands.

Has whole videos dedicated to each body part.

He does a pushup on one that seemed pretty obvious, and I'm 100% sure I wouldn't have thought of it on my own.
He has a bunch of videos for legs.

But that is one body part that I would think would be much harder to effectively hit with the necessary resistance for anything not high rep.

Still better than nothing.

He suggests good gloves...which is probably smart.

Yea. I'm getting the tubes, and those small bands for now. Legs are going to take me some time, even with bands. My left knee is quite fucked and I gotta stop being a pussy about it

got the bands in today. Unpacked then and went straight into a back workout. They were a little awkward to get started, but I feel about the same as after weight training, but without random joints feeling like shit. I think I'll need to work out a few tricks for pull downs and replicating a deadlift, but it'll more than do for now.

He does deadlifts with this one (counts it in with legs).

Side note: This was actually the first video I saw with him.

So he uses the bands. My set has the tube style that he isnt as big a fan of, precisely because they aren't quite as easily adjusted. Mine have the convenience of handles, but they're fairly long(that's what she said) and they are harder to shorten to that degree. There's definitely a way to do it, I just gotta fuck with them.

All in all, great first day. Not a killer back workout, but I could definitely have had one with the proper regiment

Definitely agree with you here fella... The pump I get with these bands isn't as good as a gym pump but it will definitely put me on till the gym opens up again.

If you already have dumbbells I can't imagine anything that bands would do better. If you wanna switch things up get some sandbags instead. I've actually made new gains because my body wasn't used to them

They feel pretty different than dumbells. Much more difficult keeping them steady, and a lot more flexibility in adjusting, mid set

did workout 2 today with the bands. It was arms, and it was awesome. It isnt some unique pump or anything, but it is about even with most any half hour I'd get at the gym, and they don't really weigh anything or take up any space. Was able to do the workout on the back porch on a really nice summer day, without having to do shit to prep for the workout.

So far so good. I think tomorrow is gonna be chest, and those band push-ups will be a motherfucker.
