Sadly, Aussie great Wally Carr has passed away, age 64.

Carr was a local legend over a 100 fight, 16 year career, holding national titles in 3 different weight divisions, and challenging for a Commonwealth title.

Very sad news.
Don't know to much about him as a fighter but he was a great bloke!!

I didn't know him properly but he was always around a few different pubs in Redfern and always was happy to have a yarn with anyone.

I brought his book off him (really good easy read) and got him to sign it for me one night after he randomly walked up to myself and a mate when we were like 7 schooies into the sesh at The Abbots in Redfern and asked "You boys like boxing?" of course I responded saying I love boxing. He pulled up a seat and ended up sitting and chatting for well over an hour that night.

Good bloke. I imagine he will be sorely missed

Was actually 4 division Aus champ. Super Welter, Middle, Light Middle and Cruiser.

Not bad for a bloke who began fighting around 125lbs. He ended fighting around the high 170's
