It is, going blind isn't worth it. BUT, at least the question I have anyway is does the fighter know that his orbital bone is broken when he bows out and how does he know? When GGG smashed Brooks' he'd already suffered the same injury previously in the other eye and remembered what the doctor told him but when it happened the first time he fought on for a few rounds until he just couldn't anymore.

The irony here is BJS after seeing Brook and Dubois take the knee gave it the big I am and said you don't quit no matter what, well of the three of them BJS is the only one who quit instantly and didn't even want to see if he could move around and stay out of the way in the 9th, the other two men came back out for the next round after suffering the injury and now BJS' first statement since the fight doesn't contain an apology for his earlier criticism of those men, the first thing he had to do here was withdraw his previous comments and apologise, he didn't do that.
Brook suffered his first broken eye socket against GGG, then against Spence the fight after in the other eye IIRC.

Well if we are going to criticise BJ Saunders. Then what about IFL TV... They had several videos of individuals after Dubois lost criticising him and calling him a quitter.

And now its video after video after video of people saying Billy was absolutely right to quit.

Ironically some of the same individuals who criticised Dubois..!

I do see the double standard from those who have spoken to IFL but they could simply argue now that they've seen their error and are consciously not making the same mistake this time as some of them did climb down once it was reported that DDD had suffered the fractures, Carl Frampton for example later said ah well if it's multiple fractures and could go blind... (something along those lines).

But I've heard some asking for proof that BJS suffered fractures, I remember Hearn asking about an X-ray for DDD but I'm not sure if that was ever forthcoming. For me that's too much, sure they could have went to hospital got x-rayed and then told that it's just bruising and swelling but the line has to be drawn somewhere so I'm satisfied with the boxer's word on it, I don't care to see medical records myself, if he quit because his eye was sore or closed I don't expect him to know at the time whether it's fractured or not I just expect him to hold his tongue in future when other's retire in the ring.

For me the double standard is of IFL TV and the line of questioning which always seem pro-matchroom.

The sooner a more professional outfit like Boxing Social takes over the better.

If your have a break in your actual skull, stop fighting.
I can’t believe this is a debate or something anybody would be criticised for.

You do understand what your skull does, right? If a bit of your skull breaks off and you get punched in it, you’re going to wind up with little sharp bits of skull in your brain. Not great for your overall health that.

Saunders took one shot to the eye and it was swollen completely shut within about about a minute. It was absolutely obvious that was a very serious injury and sending him out would have been completely reckless.

I’m no BJS fan, he’s a bigot and a complete douche. But I don’t think you can fault him or his corner for not sending him out.

The reason why Billy received a back lash has been covered.

Honestly, does anybody miss the days of the super six at 168? I would have been interested to see how Canelo faired against those guys. Today's SMW division seems very short of talent.
That's why he dropped back to it and decided to stick around. Too many challenges at LHW even though he weighs the same in the ring as those guys.

Let me once again revisit this response from you. So, he's cherry picking opponents, while those very opponents are champions in their own right having earned titles and their championship belts in the ring fighting against other opponents. Tell me, how is fighting a reigning champion "cherry picking"?

And why would those opponents not care about winning? They win, they are in for lucrative paydays and many more millions.

It's only sport after all????? Yes, while boxing is a sport, it is also how these men chose to make their living, and I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure with the last few fighters Canelo faced, being champions in their own right, weren't in it just for a quick payday and looking for a soft spot to land in the ring.

Oh, as for your cherry picking argument, this is the combined record of Canelo's last 10 opponents. 333-23-5 If that's what you consider cherry picking, I'd hate to see what you consider fighting very qualified opponents.
As if taking a fight to cash out and/or fighting just to survive is anything new under the sun.:rofl

I don't think Canelo has the size for a fully rehydrated Beterbiev, Smith Jr (though I reckon Canelo could beat him). He just isn't tall or big enough. Kovalev was giving him a fight, despite being absolutely punch-shot.

Oh damn yeah I messed that up he came back down to defend against Spence Jr of course, I was very proud of Brook for that, he refused to vacate
Yeah and he gave a decent account of himself but that kind of injury has got to be really hard to comeback from both mentally and physically as BJS is about to find out.

Canelo was apparently ducking Callum Smith.
It seems like a long time ago, but remember when people were saying he would never, ever dare to fight GGG under any circumstances?

The goalposts have just kept moving since then.

Remember when Saul "We don’t fuck around!" Alvarez ducked GGG?
Unless I just went back in time a few years, I've no idea what your point is.

My point is that some people were saying he would never, ever fight GGG, ever. Not that he wouldn't beat GGG, but that he would never dare to fight him at all. Those people were very wrong, twice, and the goalposts just keep moving.

True some people have their own agendas against certain fighters whilst others get a free pass.

Andre ward was accused of Ducking the Light Heavyweight division. When Ward asked GGG to fight him at catch weight. He got slated for it.

Floyd Mayweather who started his career at Super Featherweight. Was accused of ducking GGG a middleweight.

Canelo who started his career at 147 lb gets accused of ducking all kinds of fighters.

Interestingly GGG who has spent his entire career at middleweight is given a free pass.

Yet they want Canelo a 5"7" midget to fight at 175lbs and beyond.
