Just watched iT.
Epic. A fuckin great movie. Pacino, pesci and the Niro all played great.
I read on the internet many people think its to long... well not for me. IT could have been 6 hrs for me
I seldom agree with you but now i do.Yeah I watched it last night. Thought it was a solid 8.5 or 9 out of 10.
I thought it was great storytelling. I do actually think people's attention span has gone out the window.
If the Godfather was released today , people would pan it for being too long.
I think people wanted it to be more like Goodfellas, more violence, flashier, a constant soundtrack etc..But, that's what Casino was, just in a different location, and Casino was worse off for it.
Yeah Pesci was great, I thought every actor in the movie did very well. It's the best work that De Niro has done in years. Pesci was especially impressive with his low key delivery. He really showed his acting chops here.
lol yeah, it looked horrible, Deniro was moving like someone in a retirement homeYeah Pesci was great, I thought every actor in the movie did very well.
My only small gripe with the movie was the scene with the corner-store grocer. Looked a weird and fake beat down. Looked like an old and fragile guy trying to stomp someone( which it is), but was meant to be a Deniro in his 30's stomping someone. It was weird.
Man, I like casino, but I would definitely put that behind most of Scorsese's work.I wasn't too impressed with the film and its not because it wasn't Goodfellas or whatever.
Im not even that big of a fan of Goodfellas. Imo , Marty's masterpiece is Casino. A sweeping cinematic epic in he vain of Lawrence of Arabia or Gone with The Wind.
A multi layered , mature and nuanced account of economics and common human dilemmas in the mob world. Portrayed through staggering believability by Stone , DeNiro , Pesci and Woods.
It was an almost impossible feat of editing and pacing. Never have i witnessed another near 3 hour movie that moves at such a pace. A technical ability that seems lost in Hollywood these days. Its a movie that's genius is only released on repeat viewings.
Irishman man is a good film , i jumped to conclusions in the other thread , but where's the brilliant technical skill behind the camera you come to expect from Scorsese?
The impressive looking shots , the cinematography , the lighting etc..It looked like it could have been made by any one.
Even the wardrobe was nowhere near as good as it was in Casino.
Its bland and pretty life-less , including the dialogue which never really leaps off the screen. Every word that came from Ace Rothstien's mouth commanded your upmost attention.
The film just didn't do it for me..I might watch it again however.
12 -13 years is the difference between a boy and a man. Time for a rewatch.Man, I like casino, but I would definitely put that behind most of Scorsese's work.
I dont even think it's in his too 5 movies. It seemed a re-hash of goodfellas , just in a different setting. Having said that, I haven't watched it in like 12 or 13 years
The mark of a great movie is how it closes out. Casino's third act is as good as the first two , if not better.Casino feels like Goodfellas-lite.
You prefer Casino. Good for you. It's subjective. The mark of a great movie is how it closes out. Casino's third act is as good as the first two , if not better.
Its hardly up for debate that Goodfellas falls limp in the 3rd act , therefore Casio is objectively the superior film. Casino is the movie Marty really wanted to make.
