Sergey Kovalev vs Anthony Yarde

Unless Yarde has an extra gear that he's not shown, and unless his chin is granite...Kovalev wins. Yarde fights in short bursts, is wide open to the straight right hand and the jab, and has an idiotic trainer who doesn't have him spar, and has fed him a stream of light hitting, blown up middles and super middles.

Yarde has a lot of natural talent, and I am hoping he has a great chin, loses by a wide UD, and realises his coach is a fucking idiot and complete fraud. Because if Yarde moves to a decent trainer he could be very good.

Obviously if Kovalev has just been on the piss for the past few months, then he might be awful, but he'll need to be in order to not repeatedly land on Yarde.

I had to look up Yarde's trainer, and OMG you are spot on! This idiot Tunde Ajayi actually doesn’t believe in sparring !
I've always thought Yarde had incredible natural talent, but he often gets wild & sloppy in the ring. Now I know why: He has little experience actually fighting under pressure.

Another deficit is that he doesn't seem to be able to counterpunch well, which he'll need to do against Sergey.

And finally, unbelievably, he recently said in an interview that the only Kovalev fight he's seen is the Alvarez bout!

I mean, WHAT THE FLIPPINGFUK is wrong with his trainer?

Still, Yarde's left hook is a SERIOUS weapon. - And he throws it American style, so it's harder to see coming.
That will be a big test for Kovalev's aging reflexes.

I think Kovalev's power is still legit its just Alvarez has a crazy chin he took some bombs in both fights and didnt move, problem with Yarde is he leans down and gets hit with the right hand if Kovalev hits you in the side of your head you are fucked, I think one of them gets stopped mid rounds but yeah unless Yarde has something in his locker he hasnt shown us he will get caught before he lands

I will tell you exactly what's wrong with the trainer...

He's a narcissistic, cretin with delusions of grandeur. If you think what you've seen and read is bad, check out this "pad routine" and look out for the highly useful section of "boxer being slapped on arm by focus pad". If Kovalev looks to give quick little massages to Yarde's shoulder then Yarde will be well prepared. And the worst bit of all, is that these worthless, stupid routines are uploaded by boxing channels and sports channels with fawning titles as if this is impressive.

Now...he does do proper pad work too to be fair, and he obviously works on the body belt and heavy bag etc...but none of his training works on improving his weaknesses, it just works on massaging his ego and showing off the skills and strengths that he already has.

He's talented, but if he somehow beats Kovalev it will be down to pure natural ability and achieved in spite of his team and training, not in any part thanks to them. The best thing that could happen to him making the most of his ability is losing, recognising how awful Tunde is and moving to someone who is not a complete fraud.

Damn....had no idea it was this bad.
Uncle Rodger would throw some shoulder slaps at Floyd, but those seem like they have some purpose behind it.....this right here is just something else. Literally patting him on the back.

And Mayweather sparred, and had a serious amateur background with lots of experience and trained far more than pad routines.

James Figg would turn in his grave.
