This really is a low risk high reward for Canelo, he is a 5/1 favorite but nobody is going to remember that on the night of the fight. Kov wins, well he is the bigger man, Canelo wins, he defied the odds.

Id say 60/40 in favour of Kovalev but Canelo can change the fight at any time, if Canelo manages to hurt Kovalev he will try and steamroll him but with a better punch selection than Yarde

I think Canelo will have a similar gameplan to Yarde play it safe for 6 rounds then step it up, this is such an interesting fight because Canelo's stamina is shocking but Kovalev's is solid for his age, Canelo will swing for the fences in the second half but might be too late and lose on points (but win 118-110 on every scorecard)

Talk me through how Canelo outboxes Kovalev.

Mexican beef, Arisa shakes, and no testing.

Plus, they'll surely own the judges.

And you can bet that the ring will be really small, so as to negate Sergey's superior footwork and increase the importance of Alvarez' excellent head movement.
-----------

In a legit fight, I don't give Clenelo much chance at all, but team Alvarez wouldn't have taken this fight if they didn't already have things worked out.

Canelo hasn't enrolled in VADA since last year so take that as you will. Even if he did enroll for this fight, that's a fuck ton of time to be off and doing who knows what.

How much did they offer Yarde to step aside, 1 million?

I mean, he has, because the fight wasn't close enough to be given to him. The same here. Kovalev will be too dominant for them to rob him.
I can only hope that's going to be the case but I think you're going to be in for a rude awakening. I think Canelo is going to stop him unfortunately.

Maybe, but 160lbs to 175lbs is a massive jump. It's not just that Kovalev hits harder than anyone Canelo has ever fought, including Golovkin, it's that he's a fucking great boxer in his own right. He also has an A+ jab, couple that with how long he is and how much respect his punches will command, Canelo isn't just running in there, banging to the body and forcing a stoppage.

You don’t know a thing about boxing. Being smaller is only a disadvantage when you’re even, with the same style. Being smaller is advantageous for Canelo’s style, the same way being smaller was advantageous for Ruiz over Joshua, Nistor over Joshua, Nistor and Beterbiev over Usyk, the guy who knocked out Wilder, Cunningham who put it on Fury etc.

You think weight is the biggest deciding factor, that’s why you don’t give Lomachenko credit for Rigo, that’s why you excuse Mikey getting dominated by Spence. You’ll be wrong about this fight, the way you’re wrong about everything else.

The only fight of Lomachenko's I was wrong about was the one he lost, in fairness.

Oh I agree - he's going to have to work for it. How much depends on what shape Kovalev steps into the ring.
Fight is only 7 weeks away so hopefully Kovalev has (had) enough time fully recover from the Yarde fight and be in tip top shape with a good gameplan to beat him.
