Fair enough, but there was definitely controversy with the Lara fight. Trout never really impressed me. I wouldn't mind seeing Canelo challenge Andrade or Charlo at 160. Neither him or Golovkin have made their way through the top 5 at MW. Their opponents have been picked deliberately for a reason. I actually like Canelo, but can't help but criticise his management/promoter for the reluctance to take tough fights at MW.

Rehydration clause had no importance if you really think about it.
Kovalev has done the IBF weighs ins before and usually comes in the ring at 188-190.
Exactly but whose to say how much he weighs in the morning Kovalev is an old man now, people are bringing up the Pascal fight 3 years ago before Kovalev was an alcoholic and lost to Ward he was in much better shape

Plus it still doesnt change the fact that Kovalev had a 2 week break in between fights and still made it to the 11th round before getting caught, on a 2 month break and a full camp does Canelo still get him out of there in the 11th? Canelo would have to work alot harder

Beterbiev MAY be too much for Canelo, but the Mexican talks of greatness and his legacy. He could go back down and fight against lesser opponents, or he could try and finish what he started against bigger guys who are not on his level technically. I know which I would encourage.
He just better not have the 185lbs hydration limit in the morning if that fight happens or ill probably change my pick to Canelo by stoppage, Canelo used to hydrate 18+ lbs on smaller guys but wont let the bigger guys do it to him

He fought Daniel Jacobs and Golovkin twice? :sad5

Meh.
Fighters used to box 12 times a year.
2 week break is enough.
I dont think its cononcidence boxing fell off since you see youre favorite fighters once or twice in 12 months.

Just watched.
What happened to Kovalev? Is he shot? Rehydration clause? Too soon from Yarde?
Kovalev looked awful.
It wasn't the best version of Kovalev, we all know he is on the down-slope now. But that left hook from Canelo that set up the right cross to finish it was an absolute peach and not many would have withstood it. Kovalev was plainly out on his feet before the final punch even landed.

There was a right hand before that hook that had already taken Kovalev's legs.

Lets see Canelo fight 12x a year he will get at least 4 KO losses in that time, 2 weeks break isnt enough a normal day injury can last about a week these guys constantly pick up small injuries in camp and train through it

Sure was a pretty punch.

That said, I disagree, I think Kovalev's chin being gone was a bigger factor.

I think that punch would probably have gotten a better version of Kovalev out of there as well. But would a better version of Kovalev have got Canelo out of there earlier? We'll never know.

I think the Kovalev that fought Ward the first time probably would have gotten Canelo out, but we will never know on that one either.

I think it was the general consensus that Kovalev looked bad vs Yarde, so it was weird (to me) seeing Kovalev look so much worse here right from the start.

Let's talk about that for a sec. What TF was Kovalev doing?! I mean those pitter pat punches with 0 zero intention to hurt Canelo, not making use of his huge size advantage, his low guard. Never seen Kovalev like this and is most definitely a little fishy. There's a fucking stationary midget in front of you and all over a sudden for the very first time in your career you start pitter patting?!
I agree, it's EXTREMELY fishy.
It looked to me like Kovalev was paid to go easy & let Clenelo win by decision, then Clenelo managed to take advantage of an opening.

Another reason I believe this is because Clenelo was hardly using any head slips, which he normally does brilliantly. Almost as if, you know, he was told not to worry about getting hit hard.

I'm not knocking Canelo, though. He fought a ballsy fight.

The Trout fight had open scoring. What happened in that fight is what plays out when both fighters know the score.

There is some shady shit going on in boxing. I think we all know that. But I am struggling to see anything untoward about this fight or its outcome.

Might just be too used to it. I think the rehydration clause becoming known a couple days before the fight was shady. I'm wondering if the bookies knew about it considering how much of a favorite Canelo was the entire time. Also, why did Moretti give Canelo the first?

That's truly staggering.

Then again, that bastion of integrity (cough cough) Compu-box had the number of punches landed, after the first 2 rounds, basically even, even though Canelo had actually landed about 5 punches at that point.

But what did we expect? I knew the judges would be bought off, I just never figured Sergey would take a dive. Maybe he figures he's at the end of his run, so why not take a nice easy extra 20 million, or whatever they actually gave him. Heck, with what Clenelo is likely to bring in over the next 5 years, they probably gave Sergey FIFTY million.

- That can fund a LOT of white supremacy meetings, lol .....

I don't think Kovalev took a dive, but Canelo seemed to do as much as possible to stack the deck in his favor. Judges, Rehydration clause, so soon after Yarde.

How does Canelo do vs Beterbiev or Bivol?
Completely destroyed by the first, completely outboxed by the second. Canelo knows he isn’t a light heavy weight, he can’t hang with those guys and the reward isn’t there. He got his belt and his history at the perfect time against the right opponent, I think it would be crazy if he stayed at light heavy. It won’t happen.
