I'm intrigued. Hard to come by movies like that without film festivals. It's pretty kickass. Recommended.
The past few years I've branched out a bit and started going to these Hong Kong film festivals. Hong-Kong-A-Thon they call it. It's amazing. All 35mm prints of classic Hong Kong flicks from the 80's and 90's. They are so over-the-top. Chow Yun Fat and John Woo later transitioned into American films to cash in on their earlier successes, but could not repeat it. Their original Hong Kong films are vastly superior.
There are probably tons of Hong Kong action films available on some format, but most of it is of very poor quality. The films aren't treated with much respect over there. They don't seem to care about film preservation whatsoever. In some cases the elements have completely vanished and all we're left with is shoddy old VHS transfers. So I jump at the opportunity to see the actual films in the theatre.I'm intrigued. Hard to come by movies like that without film festivals.
