So when you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A pro football player? A surgeon? A rally driver? An astronaut? A heavy construction equipment driver?

And from an adult perspective, what do you think of that career option now?

I wanted to be a palaeontologist. Dig up dinosaur skeletons out in the desert. I think it would be a lot more tedious and lower-paid than I assumed it was when I was 8, though.

Like most kids growing up when I did, I wanted to be a cowboy. Westerns were on TV all the time and it looked like the perfect lifestyle of riding horses all day, wearing a gun strapped to your hip to defend yourself, sleeping out under the stars at night while on a cattle drive and getting crazy rowdy when hitting saloons in frontier towns. But, cowboy jobs were few and far between even back in the 50's when I was a little kid.

Maybe that is one of the reasons I still like to ride my "Iron Horse" and prefer to do so solo. Me and my motorcycles have been over a lot of this country in the past 47 years and I've slept out under the stars many nights on long rides. No, there's no gun strapped to my side, but I've been known to get rowdy in out of the way places where spirits are being served.

HMMM, life imitating art.

Professional footballer, like almost everyone else. I realised by the time I was 8 that it wasn't going to happen.

For brief spells after that I've wanted to be a writer, a cartoonist, a cameraman, and some other things I've forgotten.

They all still sound pretty good tbh. Way better than average jobs.

A footballer. Specifically a goalkeeper. I was decent in goal and enjoyed it but I was too small. Then I wanted to be a striker and told myself that if I ever did make it that I had to be at least as good as fat Ronaldo or it was pointless.

A pro boxer. Loved boxing from an early age and wanted to be like Mike Tyson.

I still flirt with the idea of writing films.

A musician.

As I hit 20 I desperately wanted to be Evan Dando. I failed.

Never mind.
