Now forgive me if this doesn't warrant its own thread or there is indeed already something about him, but I would love to know what people's opinions are of this guy.

I've just watched an interview with ifl, not for the first time, but surely I can't be the only one to think he talks complete rubbish the majority of the time. How this guy is working for sky I just don't know. I just hope he doesn't get his face/voice on even more now that Jim has retired.

Anyway would be good to know if I'm the only one who thinks he's a tit or indeed if people think I'm way off and he is in fact the 'knowledge' that I keep reading about.

Not a fan of him.
Any particular reasons? You always seem to have a bit of info on these south London boxing figures. Haha.

/

I personally respect the bloke. For someone who had limited talent as a boxer, he still managed to carve a nice career for himself so he gets kudos from me. I've also seen clips of him giving speeches at schools where he's trying to steer youths in the right direction. That always deserves applause in my book.

Initially i was a fan and had him as a FB friend till he put up a disgusting image of what was Jesus Christ with devil horns. As a Christian i cannot accept that so binned him off.

I know many will disagree but i felt he used ESB to gain popularity and knowledge then fled once he got what he wanted. Just my feeling, He was offering discounts to his shows if you posted on ESB. After a while he was gone.

I've heard stuff about him but i won't divulge here as it may not be true and is a serious thing to throw at someone. Also i know his pal Ben Doughty got upset a few weeks by a thread on ESB slating him. Wayne Alexander certainly marked his card though so something is up with him.

I know guys like Fleaman have said his historic knowledge is severely overrated. Of course Spencer sounds great to those who don't know better.

Good at what he does but not my cup of tea.

Real recognize real springs to mind.

It may of been mate, I don't look at images of things and think they're Christ especially Cesare Borgia photos as i cringe when Christians do it but i got impression he was havibg a dig at Christ so unfriended him.

Does come across as a bit of an arse. Credit to him for building his limited talent into a decent enough media career mind.

Remember Wayne Alexander ranting about him being a fake muslim and a drug dealing police informer. Not sure about that. Very big accusations to put out there.

Pretty sure I know what you're talking about in regards to what you don't want to divulge on here.

As far as that rumour goes, its always difficult to know the full extent of things like that because they have a tendency to be hugely exaggerated by people who don't really know what's happened - a bit like Chinese whispers.

@Mandana – I doubt he’d be making fun of a religious figure that he, as a Muslim, also believes in.

With regards to him as a boxing pundit, I think he’s absolutely terrible. And I can only imagine it’s his sheer persistence (i.e. blagging abilities) that got him to where he is. Because his boxing knowledge, at best, seems borrowed. I can totally believe @Mandana when he says he got his education from ESB. And if that’s true, that makes him nothing more than a forum poster that’s somehow got his mug on TV. Because if you still bother listening to his analysis on upcoming fights/fighters, he says the most obvious things and never provides the real insight that you’d expect from someone in that position. And you can almost see Ed Robinson – whose probably as baffled as you and I as to why he’s working with this idiot -- rolling his eyes whenever he talks. I still remember the time when he didn’t even know who Terence Crawford was when Ricky Burns was fighting him. How the heck can you call yourself a pundit when you’re not even aware of one of the hottest prospects in the game at the time?

And while we’re on this discussion (sorry to derail a bit), but I also think Johnny Nelson is a terrible presenter. Crap sense of humour, over-inflated when expressing his points, and carries on providing endless cringe moments when interviewing fighters with his silly questions.

Sky's broadcast team has been in need of a big refresh for a long time. I think with Jim stepping down (and he's well-liked at Sky Sports and has a lot of sway since he was one of the earliest voices on the network), we'll see a lot more sweeping changes.

Hopefully Fearon is one of them. He's utterly clueless when he can't repeat his five go-to phrases.

Seeing as this thread is overly negative, I'll try and give it a bit more balance with two beneficial things Fearon has done:

1) He brought Choi back over

2) His fight with David Walker was a classic

As far as his punditry goes, I do not go out of my way to acknowledge his views. But from what I have seen/heard (mostly Twitter), he comes across as a try-hard when it comes to his shoehorning of historical references. And that combined with his egotism, I can see why he doesn't have the best reputation among the boxing community...

He's a cock who simply recites cliches and tries desperately to pass it off as 'knowledge'.
