I don't mind Lineker, but he's a bit dull though, which is no good when the rest of the bbc panel are the most boring bastards known to man.

Lineker was shit when they put him on the golf though.

Speaking of golf. I have an affection for old Peter Alliss, very soothing voice. Andrew Cotter is decent, as is Nick Doherty.

My favourite pairing is Butch Harmon and Monty though. Always found them funny together. Don't know why Colin stopped doing the Sky TV stuff.
Yes. Yes. Yes.

How about all of the Sky Sports cricket lot? Pretty much the best commentary team on earth.

Richie Benaud?

Paul is a great shout, Bob, fantastic, forgot about that cunt. Sky's Ian Darke was class, Glenn's a laugh when pissed but also good at what he does. I can't stand Carl Froch, for someone who got that far in boxing I'm surprised he knows so little about boxing.

Andy Paterson needs to be part of some boxing commentary team, him and the rest of the Nuthouse lads, Steve Wellings on main voice.
Yeah Froch is terrible. Uniformed, disinterested, crap patter, and self obsessed.

He's only there because of his stature, and because of what he did for Matchroom and Sky.

Adam Smith means well but doesn't have a commentary voice. He sounds like an old female headteacher in his stern voice. Tony Bellew? Fuck me?

This is me basically. Even stopped going to City three seasons ago because every other Saturday was £100+ a day after you'd filtered in ticket, travel, food, beer. You're £100+ there easy.
I'm a Stoke based Newcastle fan who's always worked (often poorly paid) jobs which involve working weekends, so going to games has always been a rare treat for me rather than a regular occurrence. Travel, hotels, food, drink, it's incredibly expensive. The few times I've been though have been fantastic, barring the one time I went to watch them against Huddersfield in the Championship when we lost 2-1 in the second game of the season. Lost an absolutely dour match and I ended up falling ill afterwards, vomiting in Newcastle city centre. I wish I could say I was drunk but that would be too much fun for that trip.

I meant Froch was uninformed, not uniformed. Stupid fat fingers. Don't remember him wearing a uniform anyway.

I'm fortunate that when I was following City I was doing a M to F job. Fuck, I even used to fly back from working abroad to watch them (only Netherlands, but nevertheless expensive). The financial aspect kind of sealed it for me. £65 a ticket? At my local grassroots team (Whitby Town FC) season tickets are £170 including all preseason. I'm sorry, I'm no longer lining John Useless Bastard Stones' pocket anymore at City.

I see your day out at Toon was more expensive than mine at City, you probably got a better atmosphere. Maine Road was better than Etihad for us, Etihad is only good when it's fucking jumping - derby days are fucking brilliant.

You must come watch Yorkshire with me, Bob. I'll knock up the picnic, you fetch your own beer. Class day out.
The Mrs brother in law is a cricket fan. As are a couple of my mates, (one white and one of Indian descent).

I'd probably like it. I've enjoyed every sport I've seen live, even really obscure stuff.

It's a good day out, cheap for what it is to be honest. You get potentially 8 hours entertainment for your ticket price. I've got to do an Ashes in Australia soon.

If Wimbledon tennis wasn't full of rich cunts with silver spoons in their traps I'd imagine that's a decent day out.

@AntG should be able to give us prices on motorsports, never done that. Plus, the best commentary team (Suzi Perry?).

Geoff Boycott knows his cricket commentary, but Geoff Boycott is like the cricket Joan Collins, if the spotlight isn't on him the dummy comes out. I used to drink with an old gent who was friends with him and his wife, Barbara. Said Geoff was just like a spoilt kid. If he wasn't allowed to score a winning run he'd throw the bat at the advertising boards and steps to the pavilion - this has happened.

I've been to wimbeldon and the Davis cup. Both really good. Your seat makes a big difference though.

If you're a pleb and you want to go to Wimbledon you need to put your name in the postal ballot or camp out.

I like the bbc wimbeldon team.

Sue Barker seems nice. McEnroe and Becker are fun. Navratilova knows her stuff and speaks her mind. Castle is basically Alan Partridge. Barry Davies is a legend.

Claire Balding is awful though. Cringey and rubbish, and gets far too much air time.

Have you heard of Geoffrey Oi Cott?

Cricket themed punk band.

Suzi Perry is just a presenter, she is knowledgeable about motorcycle racing though as she's been around the sport for the best part of 30 years.

As for commentators though, nobody has or will come close to Murray Walker, he is a walking talking encyclopedia of motorsport knowledge. He's the son of an Isle of Man TT winner, did a bit of motorcycle racing himself in the late 40's/early 50's and then became a commentator for Radio TT, since then he's covered various forms of motorsport ranging from Speedway to Grand Prix Motorcycling, Rallying to Touring Cars and Indy Car to F1.

Did this three or four times, never successful. Queued up once, the queue was about nine miles long, didn't get in.

Yeah, agree with your views on the commentary team. Claire Balding is basically just a back door to the BBC lassie (Oxbridge). Before she starts telling Frankie Dettori to fix his teeth, as she did, she needs to sort her own face and her rugby player build out.

How did Suzi Perry get that gig, looks and boobs or a genuine interest in the sport?

She used to be a motorcycle tester for a bike magazine, kind of like a Top Gear for bikes and she followed racing, it probably did help that she was fit as well but she does know her stuff.
