A part of my boxing soul died when they got rid of Atlas from ESPN. When you're staying up until the early hours watching boxing, his personality was one of the best for keeping you engaged and awake!

See, this is what makes the world go round. I find him to be one of the most irritating commentators in the sport and when he gets on a tirade, which is often, he just rehashes the issue over and over again, often getting louder and louder as the air time goes on.

I can see that viewpoint, don't get me wrong. But his enthusiasm, the rants, the bizarre analogies... For me, it just all worked. Especially in the Friday Night Fights setting, where its rough around the edges style fit with Teddy's commentary/punditry.

He rehashes the issue when the issue is a important one, that´s right.
Also, the part about him being lound, I find him perfect for TV because of that.

I certainly want someone emotional when watching a sports event, certain broadcaster make you sleep in the couch.

Had a listen to Atlas' podcast and found it boring. He waffled on for 10 solid minutes at the start about absolutely nothing and it didn't get a whole lot better.

I like Teddy Atlas. He's like that wildcard on commentary. You never know what you'll get from this insane man.
