Not going to lie, this doesn't do it for me. Looks like John Connor has embraced LGBT and transitioned to a woman and also picked up a few cybernetic implants along the way.
You rate 5 over 3? 3 had some decent scenes atleast, 5 was utter shit. This looks fucking shit too. I was slightly optimistic when I heard Linda Hamilton was reprising her role, but what the fuck is that thing in the middle? I’d have paid for Edward Furlong to go on a rehab and weight loss mission if I were in charge. The first film was cool as fuck, 2 is cool but lacks the overall menace and atmosphere of the original though Robert Patrick nailed it as the T-1000, 3 was an utter abomination, 4 was a waste of what could have been a good idea(I always thought the future war could have been better explored), 5 was terrible, not quite as bad as 3 but still bad, Emilia Clarke is no Sarah Connor just like nobody could nail Kyle Reese like Michael Biehn.
This will probably be more like the latter 3 films to be honest just with Linda Hamilton joining Arnie for nostalgic purposes.
Yeah 5 wins over 3 for me because there's no visits to bars to steal some clothes and star shaped sunglasses off a bloke dancing to the Village People. 3 was the beginning of the end for me, turning what was once a remorseless killing machine into a comic relief. I know the T-800 in 2 never actually killed any one and was a bit wanky(I know now why you cry) but he was still the badass walking into a bike bar beating up the gang and stealing the leaders clothes and bike, that flip reloading shotgun and going crazy with a minigun. 3 is the one which killed the franchise.Th

Just look at how powerful and badass those 3 are. A great image for this generation.
Terminator 1 is a horrible film, having a man go back in time to save a woman just because it, in turn, saves another man is pure toxic masculinity. A muscular white man, the perfect killing machine hunting the 'good guys' down just tops off the portrayal of male dominance.
I really hope the new Terminator film addresses all these problems. I'm so glad they have added a latino person so that the story is not whitewashed. I beg that they include an African American saviour character, maybe in the form of Michelle Obama being a hero Terminator hunting down repressed white people. Just imagine how wonderful it would be if the Kyle Reese character was a transgender too?
Really can't wait for the update of this story to a more modern times. I want to be able to watch a Terminator film with feeling guilty.
