Australia have plenty here.

England haven't scored at 4 an over for a full day for a long long time.

Burns out third ball, Root out first ball, stumps too

That was some beautiful ball Root got but England....oh England.

Afghanistan creeping closer, closer, closer...they made 260 so the target is 400 and 400 should be ungettable. And Afghanistan are bowling relaxed and taking wickets, it's not what I expected to see tbh.

Zahir Khan, left arm spinning chinaman is doing damage taking opener Liton Das for 9 then #3 Hossain for 12. The other Bangal opener Shadam is on 37 but needs 100; he also needs partners which have not been forthcoming as Bangladesh stagger to 90-4.

Al Hasan is at the crease though; probably if Afghanistan can break this partnership, it's bagged.

After some back of the envelope calculations came up with a 19% chance of rain, before 7.00 pm.

Not bad odds. Somewhat better than England's chances of batting out the test, I reckon.
Besides suspect I've been generous with those rain odds . This is not going to go to the final session, I reckon.

And the third umpire is not much better- relying on snicko and not on the visual evidence of the clear deflection of the ball ,from bat onto the pads.

Thankfully, the ball hit outside the line of stumps.

Cracking captaincy and fine bowling after tea from the Ozzies. Buttler's effort was just embarrassing left and in-cutter but he got out-thought is all, probably not as humiliating as it looks. Leach is in at 10 and Broad finally accepts he's the #11. England probably won't make half past the hour.

The Ashes will be won by Australia in England.

Does Root's captaincy survive?

Can Anderson make it back?

Will Roy be allowed one last shot after his best effort with the bat?

If not will Sibley get the call?

England will still be desperate to tie the series - and Australia will be desperate to bury them.

You always had the feeling England have been 2 wickets and 20 overs short of security ,this final innings.

………...

Some criticisms against Root that he has been unable or unwilling to press the initiitative. You saw it yesterday after tea ,with Archer nad Broad being taking off after tea ,talking the pressure of the issues.

You saw the greatest evidence of this ,when he went into run aaving mode of the 1st innings of the 1st test match ,when they had the Aussies reeling at 122-8.

But maybe the absence of Anderson meant that the bowling cupboard was bare. It was out of this hands.

2.5 Hours Overton has been batting for.

Fair play.

But you just got to believe he or Leach are going to get a straight one or a jagging one from Lyon.

But this ball is doing FUCK all. And it's starting to make it kind of interesting...once we're below 60 balls, time to start showing an interest.
