American 'cuisine' is fuckin abysmal, man. It really is.

Pure bland as fuck.

Had corn casserole, green bean casserole, Mac n cheese...all shit. The Yanks raving about them. "Waited all year and worth it...".

We've adopted many American traditions over the years but the traditional Thanksgiving dinner won't be one of them. I mean candied yams WTF is that shit, marshmallow baked on yams, bonkers.

I guess it's just foods they were raised on which have a nostalgia connected with them so the pleasure in eating them is less about taste and more about the nostalgia and tradition.

I tell ya, pop a few small sweet potatoes in the smoker when you first get it going, amazingly good at the end, when the meat is done.

They just lack sophistication. I've said it before but even the obsession with pancakes, donuts, their hash browns...it's all flavourless shit.

Even that's a tourist gimmick. It's naw something Scottish people actually eat. Seems to have worked too, tbf.

What a day that was, and still is to some extent. There's still 4 out of towners who are still here but will be planning on leaving sometime today, and none too soon if you ask me. Company for a day or two is OK, but after 3 days, it starts to get trying.

Anyway, won't be much longer and the house will be back to normal and regular routines can once again be established.

The party turned out fine with lots of happy people-------------------and LOTS of dirty dishes and bags of trash to go out to the curb to be picked up. The food didn't all vanish but there is a hell of a big dent in it and just enough leftover turkey to make some soup or a pot pie.

Lots of stock was made from the carcasses, and that's a great thing because fried turkey stock is absolutely delicious and will add instant flavor to anything I use it in when cooking.

Hope everyone else had a great T-Day and all went well with no disasters for those that fried their birds.

Thank Goodness is finally all over. The last of the out of town guests left at 06:00 this morning to head back to Georgia.

I don't know what was more taxing, cooking for all those guests and having them over or turning our lives upside down for 4 days while we had company staying at the house afterwards. Either way, it's finally over.

Now to get back to a normal routine. Normal is good, by the way.

Too many people in my country don't know how to cook. It's a shame. It's so much cheaper to cook your own food than to buy awful food that's pre-packaged and tastes like shit.

Sure, a takeaway is fine now and then, but that's about it.
Hehehe thats a thing we dutch have in common with the english. Not really a big cuisine like french or greek or italian
