The Authentic Official Robert "The Reaper" Whittaker Undefeated, Undisputed Middleweight Champion / General MMA Thread

Who do you WANT to win? (Not who do you think WILL win)

  • I want the Fighting Irish to win

  • I want the 209 to represent again

  • I just want a good, action-packed fight like the last one

  • Test to see if I can change the poll?

  • Are these options 4 and 5?

Edson is great, fun guy to watch. But what are his pure striking credentials? Could he beat Floyd to the punch?
Nope, but he could beat him to the kick. I have no doubt that Mayweather's mind could calculate the ranges and good tactics to mitigate leg kicks in a fight. He would however, take the first one from someone like barboza and it would be the first brand new pain he's felt in many years.
Different worlds.

For what he did to Tenshin, he should have to kickboxing against Petrosyan. I've always been a Mayweather fan, so I wouldn't put him in there with a sadist, but making him look very very stupid for 9 minutes or so would be just fine.

Yeah I agree good post. Petrosyan would fucking kill him, so to speak. Edson and Tenshin, Id give him a fair punchers chance

He carried Conor for 10 rounds, and you cant convince me otherwise

Imagine what a thrashing like that could do for such a really great sport. MT and K-1 style kickboxing are often my favorite combat sports.

Dana White:

“Later this month, Jon Jones will file an application for licensure with the NSAC in order to compete at UFC 235 in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 2nd.”

”Provided that license is granted, Jones will be defending his Light Heavyweight title against Anthony Smith in a 5 round main event at the T-Mobile Arena.”

1. Good for smith, he deserves it.
2. This fight serves no real purpose. Smith has no attributes that will help him here.

Pretty much.

Hilarious if he somehow Serras Jones, though.

Im not even sure how something like that can happen to him. His chin is absolute granite. Maybe he trips and ends up in a sub or something... nah. They'd be better off just feeding Romero or Rockhold to him. Just as pointless, but more money potential. There are maybe 3 or 4 people on the planet who have a scenario where they can beat Jones. They all fight at HW. Unless im forgetting someone.

Have you seen Rockhold being arrogant about how he's moving up to 205 and he's going to destroy Jones? I'll be sad when Rockhold is gone. I really enjoy hating on his smug, arrogant ass. I mean I don't want him to get hurt in the cage or anything, but watching Bisping KO1 to relieve him of the belt in his first defence was so, so sweet.

Are we all agreed that it seems like a pointless title fight as far as the result being a foregone conclusion goes..... but we're all fine with it because there's no obvious challenger and Smith seems like a really good honest hardworking guy who deserves a huge opportunity after years of grinding under the radar?

The biggest gripe I’ve got against Jones part from his obvious cheating and the fact he is a POS, is his unwillingness to move to heavyweight. Why doesn’t he try to really win the fans back by facing Miocic or something? Fight Overeem you fucking pussy, atleast make your fights competitive.

No thoughts on Khabib turning down Ferguson?

I really hope his team are trolling on this one, it's pathetic otherwise.

That 'I fight for legacy bullshit' lasted one pay day, now he is ready to ride off in to the sunset. He will go down as a criminal underachiever if he goes the way Ali is suggesting, he should at minimum have secured the division. It's all well and good saying you're 25-0, but he hasn't beaten Ferguson, and he hasn't challenged himself by moving up.

I would accept a GSP fight at 165 pounds, because if you're in Khabib's shoes, you can't pass that up and it needs to happen this year.

Other than that, it has to be Ferguson. Who I reckon Khabib smashes 8/10 times.

I wouldn't mind a GSP fight either, but I can't see that happening.

I'm not sure who he considers a 'needle mover' if Ferguson isn't a big enough fight. It leaves the GSP fight and nothing else, he seems to have priced himself out of a Mcgregor rematch which is a retarded business move.

If he doesn't fight Ferguson then that will have a huge effect on how he is reflected on post retirement.
