The Authentic Official Robert "The Reaper" Whittaker Undefeated, Undisputed Middleweight Champion / General MMA Thread

Who do you WANT to win? (Not who do you think WILL win)

  • I want the Fighting Irish to win

  • I want the 209 to represent again

  • I just want a good, action-packed fight like the last one

  • Test to see if I can change the poll?

  • Are these options 4 and 5?

I do like that Anderson brought in Alex Periera for sparring. Tells me that he's really keen on finding a moment of opportunity to land a big one. He isn't content with just rolling over. Not a big fan of him being in the gi so much, but I like that he's keeping his ground game tight. Worst comes to worst he might be able to force a scramble of some kind and catch a sub. His bjj is legit. I don't think he wins, and I don't think he thinks he wins, but he's the last of the greats from that generation of fighters. Once he's done...it's over. Shogun's path to being on top is over. This is really it.

Why would you want a 43 year old who should be retired and enjoying his millions, to derail an undefeated 29 year old who was the breakout fighter of last year and a potential superstar?

Even as an Anderson fan, do you want him to get a second wind in his career and carry on for more fights? The fight game feeds the old to the young, it always has. That's just the way it works. It's Anderson's time to pass the torch. :thumbsup

Israel isn't undefeated in my book it's well known in the community that he got ktfo a few years ago. They compared him to Anderson and after his wins he would say that he idolizes him and would love to retire him. I'm not hating though it is a good matchup for him and wise to call Silva out.

He got ko'd in a kickboxing fight. That doesn't mean he's not undefeated in MMA.

Whitaker is out of the fight with an injury.
That sucks , I’m just about to wake my son up to get ready to head off to the show. This news is going to break his heart.
Apparently Rob’s going in for a hernia operation today.
Israel v Silva now the main event still a 3 round fight.
Thank fuck these tickets were a gift or I’d be absolutely gutted.

Gastelum has found a belt somewhere, declared himself the champion, and is now giving an interview wearing a fancy suit with the belt slung over his shoulder, deadpan as fuck. :rofl

"I come from wrestling. In my world, you get to the tournament final, you miss weight or you can't compete for whatever reason - that's a loss by forfeit. The belt goes to me now. Rob I wish you the best, get well soon, and when you come back of course you can have the first shot at my title."

:rofl:rofl:rofl

I was impressed by Gastelum in the cage years ago when he won TUF, have enjoyed his middleweight run and I'm loving that he has suddenly developed quite an amusing and entertaining personality.

Sam Alvey not happy with Marc Goddard's stoppage. Throws a tantrum in the cage, gets the crowd chanting "ASSHOLE!" at him, storms off in a huff.

I don't want to watch the Silva fight. I'm afraid of getting the same crushing feeling when RJJ lost.

So, this PPV:

Main event:

Undefeated contender vs 43 year old legendary former champion who hasn't fought for 2 years, and who is 1-4 in the last six years. Plus a points victory over a retired welterweight, overturned due to drug test fail.

Co-main event:

Guy who is 1-3-2 in the UFC vs guy who is a UFC debutant and has an MMA record of 6-4.

Biggest name on the PPV card outside of the main event: Sam Alvey.

:rofl:rofl:rofl:patsch

I don't want to watch it either. I'm afraid of Adesanya losing. Don't want a GSP/Hughes 1 type situation.

Sounds like a complete fail for the UFC today. Whitaker dropped out at the last minute. Pretty damn crazy.

I’m pretty disappointed not seeing Rob fight for his belt.
I would have been more disappointed seeing him lose his belt.
Meghan the UFC reporter is sexy as fuck though, she bent over in that hot pink suit not far from us, that was almost a religious experience for our eyes.
Melbourne sports crowds are funny as fuck.
Someone yelled out kick him in the hernia on the undercard the whole place cracked up.
Big Herb loved us he got some mad cheers.
The end of round 1 the place was going off and I looked down and so was Dana.
I had a good day, my boy thought it was awesome and as we walked past the MCG on the way home he rang his mates watching the cricket and they had a spare ticket so he peeled off with them and I caught the train for 15 minutes and got a six pack on my walk home.
Still got 4 left.

You didn't even snap a quick cheeky pic on your phone of Olivi bent over looking coy?
