The Authentic Official Robert "The Reaper" Whittaker Undefeated, Undisputed Middleweight Champion / General MMA Thread

Who do you WANT to win? (Not who do you think WILL win)

  • I want the Fighting Irish to win

  • I want the 209 to represent again

  • I just want a good, action-packed fight like the last one

  • Test to see if I can change the poll?

  • Are these options 4 and 5?

I missed it. Did another guy that was considered one of the best get beaten by someone nobody's ever heard of? Just a typical MMA card then.

Yawn. What a dumb sport.

Woodley just can't fight going backwards and wilts under pressure even Jake 'K1' Shields dealt with him easily mainly down to putting him on the back foot. What happened last night was what i expected Covington to do to Woodley if they ever fought.

As for Askren I really don't like his chances against the bigger wrestling based 170 fighters like Usman, Covington & ect. He looked like a very small welterweight I can see why he is advocating for 165 division.

170 has always been insanely stacked with wrestlers, but currently is about as crowded as it's ever been.

Didn't Woodley get dominated by some shnook?
Sort of but the guy fought his way up the ladder to a title shot on 14 fight win streak or something so he's clearly not a nobody, but he's not a well known name to anyone that isn't a very knowledgeable fan of MMA I think.

More like a young talented guy being all wrong for the champion.
Usman was coming of pretty good wins too, hardly unknown.

I don't know how he'd fair against bigger wrestlers, one way or another. He has a weird strength. Let's be clear about a thing or two. Lawler is not an enormous WW, but he isn't tiny. He isn't a guy who is remotely immune to being taken down, but he is a guy who immediately works to stand up. He essentially got a head start in the fight with that slam. Askren still managed to do exactly what he does in all of his fights, and easier than it is a lot of the time. 165 would definitely be better for Ben though.

The punches Askren survived were hellish, I didn’t see a face on view of it, no replays of it anywhere, they were show stoppers. Crazy fight. Lawyer comes out of that looking really good considering he was 90% on his way to going limp anyway, he beat up Askren then suffered an obviously early stoppage, it’s the next best thing to a win for him.

Also if I were Till I’d avoid Askren like the fucking plague, then again looking at Covington and Usman and Askren I don’t think he has a chance of picking up that belt, him against Lawler would be great, or RDA.

Lawler looked to be in amazing shape. The fight looked like Ben was on his way to either popping his dome off or draining the life out of Lawler for another round or so. I really didn't believe he could apply that pressure to Lawler. I think that version of Lawler fucks some dudes up. Running that fight back is bad matchmaking.
