The Authentic Official Robert "The Reaper" Whittaker Undefeated, Undisputed Middleweight Champion / General MMA Thread

Who do you WANT to win? (Not who do you think WILL win)

  • I want the Fighting Irish to win

  • I want the 209 to represent again

  • I just want a good, action-packed fight like the last one

  • Test to see if I can change the poll?

  • Are these options 4 and 5?

Don´t go for a takedown straight forward looking at the ground like he did...

Askren could get away with being one dimensional without a error like that... at least last night, I think he would have beat Masvidal if it wasn´t for that..
Like someone else said above, Masvidal´s team noticed that flaw and were praticing that move before the fight..
I thought thought he'd win too, but if he does s going to fight on he'll need to improve his striking to make him more comfortable after the loss. He is almost 35 he should sit out until next summer and go from there. Needs to recover and develop.

Listening to Dana say Jones “dominated” made my fucking ears bleed.

5 rounds of leg kicks and running away from exchanges is dominating is it. Bollocks

He’s the last draw and they are desperate to protect him, instead of just admitting the truth which we can all see which is that he’s a shadow of his former self now he’s not on as many steroids.

Raquel Pennington lasted longer against Nunes than Cyborg, Holm, Rousey and Tate combined.

People calling for Askren to retire? Really? I haven’t seen his bellator or ONE fights but assumed he is legitimately good. It was an embarrassing loss but ultimately a dominating prolonged loss would have proved he was out of his depth, this just proved he has flaws.

He was getting battered by an over the hill Robbie Lawler too. Fair enough, he got the win( controversial), but it didn't look good.

Got more to do with concerns For his health than believing he can’t compete mate. People aren’t the same after being knocked out like that.

He’s a nice guy and I hope he retires. Got no interest in seeing anyone brain damaged or hurt badly. And that’s very nearly what happened to him Saturday.

It was the worst KO I’ve ever seen.

It's nonsense.

People always fail to understand that there's guys who go 5 rounds and win who take more head trauma than the guy who gets ko'd in the first round.

It looked bad, but he was out of hospital before the main event and has had no ill effects beyond the initial KO.

Yeah it was horrible to watch.

Full credit to askren though, he's taking it really well. Time will tell, he'll inevitably get back in there, hopefully against some lighter opposition and we can see where he stands.

Show me the way to St Louis
Shit a brick that was vicious!!
If Askren has fights left on his contract then I can’t see Dana letting him grapple out a decision when Ben himself has been asking for strikers. He asked “what else have you got” after getting a gift against Lawler and Christ almighty he got it.
He seems like a good guy and I would rather see him retire than come back at 36 against lowly ranked youngster and get decapitated.
Anyone who can strike at a decent level should have a blueprint against him after 2 fights.

Yeah, can´t think of a worst knockout than that, Gonzaga vs Cro Cop 1 was terrible too, but this Askren one tops it.
Askren had a legit car accident type of concussion.
